What I always think is so stupid is the players risking their career for the stupidest stuff.... like you're living the dream life being a footy player and you risk getting in trouble over not leaving the pub and getting drunk? Not worth the risk ?

lets hope we don't see any more negative press leading into the season and in reality both players should now be excluded from round 1 as a deterrent for the rest of the season, they do get mentored on acceptable behavior and should know when to go home.

Surely excluding players for copping a fine is a bit much. They made what looks like a very minor mistake, disrespected a cop or two and got fined accordingly. End of the matter imo.

Yeah, another slap on the wrist will fix it. :face_with_rolling_eyes:

Should we also start rubbing players out of the 17 for speeding fines? Parking tickets?

Well that depends now doesn't it
Doing 150k/m and hour in a 60 zone yes
Parking repeatedly in a handicap zone giving blatant disregard and respect to those who are actually disabled and require those spots then yes

Look at what this young nut just did in Qld
Stealing a car, ramming other cars and finally loosing controll killing two people and an un born child
Adults need to set the example for the younger generation

If there is a genuine mistake that is made then obviously a lenient penalty should apply
Eg, sitting on 80k/m when you thought it was a 60 zone
But repeatedly offending and not learning your lesson the 1st time should require some kind on consequence
We all are aware by now that not behaving in public or being a public nuisance while intoxicated is just not acceptable
These guys would know that
You can not please ignorance in this case
Especially Musgrove as its his second offence
It just very disappointing as a tigers supporter who hS been waiting for 10 years to make the finals
Only to have a key player jeopardise his position in the team and on the field
We dont need to be down two players before the season starts
I am sure that Madge with have something to say to these guys
To the whole team as well I hope

Feels a bit like you're making mountains out of mole hills mate, throwing out what ifs of the worst possible scenarios to argue against my point. If anything AJ and Zanes 3am row with the cops would be likened more to going 75-80 in a 60 zone than anything as bad as your examples. Which wouldnt warrant any players suspension in my mind. Nor is it like aj or zane is a repeat offender as zane has been acquitted of most of his previous charges and neither has been charged now. Just feel like people are coming down alot harder than is warranted on these blokes for what has actually happened.

I dont know the real story, and like you if it was minor then maybe a slapon the wrist. But no matter how insignificant it hurts the club and the NRL.These guys are paid well, they have had hours of tuition on how to behave and the consequences. You have a responsibility to not put yourself in these positions.

I was replying to your post about speeding fines
You didn't state the full story (scenario)
There are limits which would be forgivable
And there are limits which are not
And its already a mole hill which can turn into a mountain if its not stopped

At this point none of us know the full story
But abusing police or any member of the public going about their job is not acceptable

IMO
Aj forgivable , 1st offence small fine and a week off
Musgrove a larger fine, 2 weeks off
He has been in trouble before and missed a whole season for it
He should have known better
At what point do you say enough
When its to late ?
Here we are giving Jimmy a new beginning and trying to help him with Alcohol abuse, and I applaud Jimmy and the club for working together to get his life and career back on track
Now we have another player who has been in trouble twice , while consuming excessive amounts of alcohol and totally disrespects the law
Do you suggest we sweep it under the carpet and go about with no consequence
Because that would be the wrong message to send all the other players in our team busting their guts and focusing on the year ahead

Maybe its the players should set the punishment for these two players
Hold them accountable for their actions and for letting the club down

If our club wants to be successful, then our players need to be focused for the year ahead
Limit the distractions
Stay healthy and fit
Work for one another
And not let the team and club down

Unless of course you want to finish outside the 8 again

By the way I’m totally with . Go home at 12 mate . You’re not going pick up with another 7 drinks under your belt in that 3 hrs. Especially because of the Coogee bay backstory

Go home by 12 if you are a responsible professional footballer...definitely Strongee.
And if you need that many beers to pick up a chick....there's something wrong with your self confidence.
How many chicks do you reckon are out there **"in season/on heat** that want to be done by a footballer/any footballer with the possibility of another 'very unfortunate for Josh Reynolds" scenario, or worse.
I suggest a part of a players NRL education should include having to listen to a song called **"One drink To Many"** by Sailor.
A little bit of Lovin? with the wrong person can often end in a lot of big time hassles.

Not making excuses for them at all. Just saying, once you’ve had a few beers reasoning doesn’t exist. If they’ve done the wrong thing - fine them for sure.

Went out with my young adult sons at Christmas on one of their night outs and it was interesting. The pathetic display by security picking and choosing who went in and out of venues was a classic case of giving too much authority to a fool. So it cuts both ways I suppose

Lemme guess - you were refused entry.

Don’t underestimate a RL groupie mate . There’s more than fair share . I once was at Wallaby bar in darling harbour , and Barry hall plus 2 other swans were sitting in the middle . Literally every girl in there was hovering around them , and all the guys were leaning on the wall . We walked in , had a beer and left . Sorry there was 1 group of 4 guys on the outside of the girls trying to make thier way in.
It was like something from a movie .

Very good post :+1:

Far out this is a bit of a non-event isn't it?
Is there any suggestion that these two really hurt anyone but themselves?
If not then give them a slap and move on.
The big clubs handle this sort of incident (and worse) behind closed doors and it rarely hits the media.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that WTs puts out press releases etc... if you act like pelican you deserve to get some scrutiny. I'm sure it's disappointing for many people at the club, but this ranks pretty low on the stuff-up meter when it comes to rugby league.

Really disappointed in Musgrove ...I was really looking forward to his progress this season ..he was starting to look like a good un

Now he OWES the WT's a HUGE season

And as far as Kepaoa goes ...Joe the Cameramen can cover it ....can't catch ...can't tackle ...can't hold his piss ...no wonder the Roosters were pawning him off to any stupid suitor

Stay off the drink guys. Obviously can't handle it.

The irony of this post coming from “Cleanskin” can not be passed by. You may be uniquely qualified to comment

Clean skin doesn't always relate to alcohol. I could work in cosmetics.

Tattoo joint?

I agree with some posts saying it's not a huge crime, ask most first graders and legends what they got up to in their day, they would be deregistered these days, I know this first hand! I'd be more concerned if our coach and administrators couldn't come up with some motivational aspect on this and really get these two to fire for their team mates and supporters.

Im going to have to give you guys and gals a little professional insight into some of these incidents that happen no matter if you play NRL are a bricky or a welder....THE governing laws re RSA(responsible service of alchol)is you can be refused service if you are deemed to be intoxicated, cause or disrupt other customers or become aggressive while consuming alcohol....
Now I would just like to say that these signs are plastered all over the entrances and within the premises in clear view of patrons....if people cant read or understand those rules then maybe they should not even attempt to enter a place that sells alcohol and stay at home...
Im saying this because if your just turned 18 or your 70,the OLGR(office of liquor gaming and racing )has spent a great deal of time money and resources to educate the population on theses LAWS..they are not to be taken lightly, not only can the offending customer be heavily fined the premises can be fined and lose their license...Im not bagging either of these boys, but, education in this particular area may assist in the future for them...

These guys probably have been educated on it that are just dumb

These blokes get so much education it’s ridiculous. All the ‘learnin’ goes out the window after a few...

tiger steve,I can clearly see your point of view,I will say, having worked in the Hotel and Club industry for over 40 years, these LAWS were made and put in place for a reason, irrespective of having a couple to many or getting smashed,we all had to abide by these rules, not only as customers but suppliers of the products as well...the population has been educated enough and so have Licensees,if you are refused service and fail to leave license premises you can be fined or charged..its that simple...
It got even harder because of the coward punch incidents, hence the heavy lockouts at Midnight etc..Im not lecturing people,I have seen first hand what happens when people cant handle the piss or be told they have had enough...once again I will say educational tools have been put in place to help customers and premise owners...the excuse of being young and dumb no longer cuts it in the court of law..

You got it! Old and ugly should not be a criteria!!

lol, how embarrassing being refused entry.

Interesting I also met Barry Hall (Big Unit) in Brisbane after a One day game at the cricket in a bar opposite the Gabba after the game.

He had a skin full in him and was with some other guy that looked like a hanger on wanting to cause trouble, not with us however.

He was a bit of a Nob but was pretty pissed, although his mate was worst trying to pick fights because he was with him, sometimes the hangers on are more trouble.

I had 1 beer with him mostly slurring his words and not making much sense, myself and my mate left soon afterwards as we could tell trouble was brewing later at some point and did not want to be involved.
