Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

How does this side look as our 2022 starting side taking in injuries and signings .. ?? ( I deliberately left Capt Easter Island out)
1. Laurie
2. Maumalo
3. Gildart
4. To'a
5. Nofa
6. Hastings
7. Brooks
8. Utoikamanu
9. Liddle
10. Mikaele
11. Lielua
12. Ofahengaue
13. Peachey

14. Simpkins
15. Twal
16. Musgrove
17. Seyfarth

Zero Tackle are stating that William Kei will be our starting centre with Gildart .. !!
Joffa can't be in the back row. doesn't move well enough laterally. the Cowboys game last year tells you all you need to know. Madge will be conservative with his forward pack which will mean we see Tamou, Liddle, Garner, Leilua, Joffa and Musgrove there when its likely most of them won't even be playing for us in 2023.

Ofahengue and Lielua each tend to be lazy in defence and if they both play Peachey will have his work cut out. Musgrove is a?

that ship has well and truly sailed. thankfully we're going to clear a lot of the deadwood in the forwards come the end of this year and give the players worth investing in the time in firsts they deserve.

Payne Haas locked in legal battle with ex-manager that could see Haas at another club, surprise surprise its the Rorters who are “extremely interested”

Why not? Taukeiaho will be gone at the end of the year. That’s about 600k freed up right there. JWH wouldn’t have long left either

One thing i've noticed from watching juniors is that we have huge depth coming through in the middle of the field.
Props playing Flegg/SG Ball include: Pole, Ma'anaima (Flegg), Tofaeano (Wests), Aho, Tuipolutu, Sukkar (Balmain)
Locks: Tumeth, Guyan (Flegg), Matamua (Wests) Fa'agatu (arrives 2023)

Johnny Tuipolutu looks an absolute beast. Like a cross between Kikau and Civoniceva, great impact off the bench, very powerful and athletic, long arms. Maybe could become a back rower if he has the fitness and agility as he continues to develop.
Sukkar appears a young Twal type workhorse, dependable.
Tofaeano is like a young Junior Paulo, hits the ball up very hard and fast.

The fact Matamua played 5/8 and kicked goals for Wests on the weekend shows his versatility and that he has the ball playing skills combined with the size of a modern lock. Fa'agatu sounds very similar to Matamua and is captaining Marsden again this year (captained the seniors as a 16 year old last year). Both these players are leaders by example and enthusiasm.

In NSW Cup Rua Ngati is a powerful hooker/lock, Aden Perry, Sione Tupou and Felix Smith all offer depth and potential.

I'm not saying any of the above should just be thrown into NRL, but we should see a number of them make their way through to first grade in the coming years.

Other positions aren't nearly so strong though, but will be interesting to see how Flegg goes once they stop rotating lots of players and lock down on a regular starting lineup and build continuity.

Thanks Balmain boy for the update on the new kids coming through

They would be able to offer him 700K plus easily JWH will be retiring after next year most likely and Taukeiaho will be gone soon too so they could make him and offer if he’s not happy, but if he stays with the Broncos till at least 2023 we could make him a good offer for 2024 not saying we’ll get him but we could make him an offer

Well Pole is joining us next year into top 30, and Matamua joins the top 30 in 2024 so two of them will get NRL game time eventually my guess is Matamua will take over as Lock once Peachy retires

Funny how they all sign for $1 and when they finish up they are on $600k-700k. Honestly it's a joke. IF they are under the cap then it needs to be looked at cos it is not working as a salary cap should.
Not to mention they have signed Brandon smith for 2023 and have the 2 beat young talents in the game I’m not saying they are over there cap I think they are just an incredibly well run club

Thanks for the appraisals of these youngsters and let us hope that a few come through as proper first graders to strengthen our pack. Own the middle and average playmakers own the game on the back of it.

We won’t get him. Not when the Roosters are interested.

Clearly they are very good at what they do. If it was so clear cut that they rort the cap like so many are desperate to believe, they would have been found out years ago.

Yeah I'm not so convinced about the whole "incredibly well run club" tripe that floats around the Roosters. Not having a shot at you personally by the way.
I just find it very hard to believe that the Roosters have some sort of 'Colonel's secret recipe' formula that not 1 other club in the comp has had the ability to emulate over the last decade or so. They may not be operating outside of the salary cap on the official books but it wouldn't surprise one iota if they are doing something outside the books to entice blokes there for supposedly bugger all money compared to what they get offered to go elsewhere.
