Tigers eye permanent move back to spiritual homes at Leichhardt, Campbelltown

Not arguing with you, but I can't put my finger on why Campbelltown can't draw crowds other than, of course, our poor performance. I find it an easy ground to get to by car, parking is also plentiful and close to the ground. There is also train station handy. There is also a club right next to the ground to cater for those looking for something to do pre and post game.
plenty who live in the area don't support the Tigers and never will they support other teams and have move out to campbletown.
Leichhardt is the same most who live around there couldn't give a stuff about Tigers

This gets churned out nearly every year and nothing ever comes of it.
God help us if it does happen as crowds will be pathetic and it will not help us in any way.
People from the rest of Sydney just don’t want to travel there… along with most corporates.
At least other far flung Sydney grounds like Penrith and Manly can usually fill their stadiums with their own supporters.
That does not seem to be the case for us at Campbelltown.
And, just because a bunch of people are moving into the area doesn’t mean they are all going to become WestsTigers supporters.
Wake up to yourself. If they're winning they will pack the place. Do you think the same for Leichhardt because guess what? There is very little difference attendance wise on average.

Think to the future guys.
Which stadium would be more viable, Campbelltown Stadium or Leichhardt Oval [or other stadiums].
Don't make a choice based on what you want now.
What oval will suit the WT going forward.
I'm 64 now so if I was selfish I would want a refurb LO but what about my kids and grandkids.

Then Homebush would be the best option long term - which explains why Souths and Dogs moved their too. Bankwest 2nd best option.

half of the wests tigers supporters probably live in Ryde and homebush area anyway.
I know plenty of people moved out Macarthur way as housing was affordable which is great but previous ties to other teams Dragons dogs souths etc
big risk putting all our eggs into Macarthur basket full time, never worked for Magpies
Sadly the Magpies were poorly run in the 90s. We had a little bit of success in 91 and 92 but but a tonne of injuries and inflated contracts hurt the club in 93. By 1995 with super league approaching the club was basically told there would be no place for them in either competition. By the end of the 90s the writing was on the wall and both Wests Ashfield and Campbelltown had spent all their money on club refurbishments and couldn’t or wouldn’t help fight to save the club. I don’t think Macarthur is the problem, poorly run clubs are

What are the crowd averages at Brookvale? What were the averages at Penrith before 2020? Both teams have had a lot more success than wests have the last decade. We have packed Campbelltown out many times when we were successful and will again. We just need more of a presence in the area and our marketing here for games is atrocious. You wouldn’t even know a game is on half the time. We play a lot of out of town teams at Campbelltown at garbage times.
eg. Warriors at 6pm on Friday 25th March.

Do they actually see any patronage from games in the inner west. I have no idea if they do or they don't. I'm just wondering how many people actually go back to Ashfield after a game rather than a few drinks around Leichhardt or Olympic stadium precinct. Do the team always go back to Wests Ashfield?
I would have thought that Wests Ashfield would get much more patronage from people of Asian background enjoying a fling on the pokies than post rugby league game patrons.

That would pretty much be the demographics of that area these days wouldn't it?

I can only imagine the crowds they would get at Leichhardt if the stadium was modernised, the traffic and parking fixed and it was next to a railway station.
Campbelltown has plenty to offer except it’s location.
Time to wake up to that simple fact.

I keep looking at this thinking "Russell Packer".

Ofcourse the big money will never go to UWS unless their Children spent their private schooling as high as a kite. They will all graduate from Kings and Trinity (not the one at Auburn), etc. But hey they will also talk how Rugby Union is the game played in heaven and never dare touch a League game. At that level UNSW is the compromise to not go to Harvard or Yale.

Naturally it's the westie who studied hard that gets the gig job writing their essays for them.
It is Russell Packer - he graduated with Honours from Wollongong in his Bachelor in Business and got entry to the MBA at UNSW....

WTF is your rambling point supposed to be about?

Nothing better than going to Leichhardt and not being able to see the corners of the field, lining up forever to go piss in a dungeon and lining up for half an hour for a beer. Obviously you hate Campbelltown. You could move Leichhardt next to a train station with a car park and it would still not be ideal to properly watch a game of footy. Balmain knew this in the mid 90s when they bailed to Parramatta stadium. I still enjoy going to Leichhardt but as a venue to watch the game I believe it’s massively overrated

If we start winning the crowds will come back to both, if we continue to keep winning I think people would slowly get Jack of the poor facilities... Wouldn't put up with it and we'd see a slow decline.
We have played very boring footy for a long time o casionally some exciting stuff throwing it around when the opposition have it in the bag and rack their cues... People don't wanna make an effort to pack up the family to watch boring losers
We win, and entertain the crowd with good footy... they'll come back

But that just it - you can only imagine it because it ain't going to happen.

Hey LO might be antiquated but I'll not hear a bad word about the Glenn Morrison memorial dunnies.

That's the long and short of it.

As long as we're in with a chance of the finals, we'll post decent numbers. No one is going to watch them at any ground if they're 15th and 8 points outside of the eight.
