What's a good way to annoy neighbours?

Annoy them back. Lots of little things…rubbish over the fence, those ideas from CB always work, hide their bin on rubbish day so it doesn’t get emptied, anonymous call to the pigs…etc
Your aim is to get them to attack you.
Then the ball is in your court.

I don't know where you live but QLD noise laws apply 24/7 - the old days of after midnight do not apply at all.

I had the Doof-doof boys living next to me- parties would start at 3 in the afternoon and go to 3 the next afternoon - the drum beat going right through us for 24 hours. Other neighbours and I called the cops multiple times - these guys would have a lookout to turn the music down as they came and then up when they left.

These guys owned the apartment but where I got them was through the environmental act - which basically states that I have right to peace and that I can sue when someone disturbs that peace. I wrote to their body corporate - bang shut down. The body corporate had had others in the building complain and told them they would be forced to sell if they didn't change.

That lasted quite well for a couple fo years and we got on - I don't like being at war with people. Then one night the younger brother had a huge party and I lost the plot at 5 in the morning when they leaving and carrying on like 3 year olds in a supermarket.

I verballed them big time and it ended up with a full Corona bottle being thrown at me and actually smashing out some slats in my deck. I called the cops (so did they) and the cops told me that it would be hard to convict them because I had provoked them by yelling (they were fully on my side though). They suggested the lawn-mowing after a big night.

I wrote to the body corporate again, resulting in us sitting down and establishing guidelines for parties - they would give me notice/ I had their number to request music to be turned down etc. Never had a real problem again and we helped each other with multiple things/ projects. The younger brother wouldn't communicate but I didn't care as long as he wasn't creating an issue.

It's hard but arranging a discussion is the best way to go rather than going at them because you could create a problem for yourself. Tell them you will take notes so they know you have a record of what was said. If that doesn't help I would look at the noise laws in more detail in your area. If they are renters let the real estate agent know of the problem.

Good post.

I'm sure all other posts were in jest but I'd suggest not doing anything petty.

Shit on their lawn
Even better still . . . . . . . . . . Many years ago I worked at a large organization where stirring people up and stunts abounded at a time when political correctness did not exist and bullying and absolute rat bagery abounded. (is that even a word)

There was a particular guy that was constantly copping the brunt of some of these stunts, many of which were totally over the top.

Your shit on the lawn brought back memories of one of the most over the top stunts that I was ever to become aware of.

It actually rivals, or even surpasses the old nailing the dead fish under the bosses desk trick.

The particular recipient of the stunt had a Datsun 1200 sedan and one day after finishing work on a hot summer afternoon, walked out to the car park and went to open the drivers side door only to find that someone had stuck shit under the door handle, much to his disgust.

After much cursing and swearing and doing his best to clean himself and the car up, he finally got in his car and started it up and went to drive off, and being a hot day, he turned on the car fan/ventilation system only to be over come by a hideous odour because they had also jammed shit down the air intake vent.

Could be some ideas there that may be adapted for your neighbour, but only if you have the stomach for it.

I had a new neighbour who took exception to everything on our side of the fence. One Saturday I was building a deck she had gone out about 9am i started about 10am. I was using a drop saw periodically throughout the day. She came home about 3pm and promptly call the police. By the time they showed up at 4 pm I was packing up. They said I was within my rights but had to check it out. Well the next morning, not happy with the result, she got up and went down to the police station by 9am Sunday morning. I started about 10am again and by 11am new police were at the door. Good cop and bad cop. Good cop goes “hey man what’s going down”. Bad cop goes “rah rah rah”. And I go come on fellas I’ve started after 10 and finished by 4 and today I will finish by 230 coz I gotta start the bbq and beers before the Tigers game. So good cop turns to bad cop and says “not another bloody Tigers supporter”. And Bad cop says “I am with you my brother Tiger I am finishing early for the same, go the Tigers!”. And then they went next door and told the neighbour “to mage her lifestyle expectations”.
She sold up a few months later after I proved she falsified docs at fencing court.
Sorry about the long story.
Go the Tigers!
