Because he was average and our attack looked miles better as soon as he went off the field. Just because we won doesn't excuse any average performances.

I'll give him credit for his solid defence and good support work as well though

Likewise when he went to Brisbane. They acted quickly too.
So whether it's in a team of champions or a team going through a rebuild, significant shortcomings of a halfback are invariably too great to overcome.

Madge has backed Brooks his entire tenure at the club. So did Ivan Cleary who got the best out of him. Brooks is halfback again in a season where Madge desperately needs overall team improvement or he's possibly shown the door.....why would he risk losing his job if he didn't think Brooks can play?

It's about time people realise we just don't have the cattle, probably haven't for a long time..but hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel very soon

The intensity of the Roosters dropped off noticeably and they rotated players in the second stanza. Our attack was too sideways in the first 25 mins but then we adjusted that. It was also pissing rain. I’ll pile on when it’s deserved but that wasn’t worthy of the shots fired.

Coopy was the overseer of the greatest GF pasting in the history of the game at a pro level. Bloke was kissed on the arse by the team's he had around him for the most part. If he played for a struggler club it'd be Cooper Who?
Played his role in a gun team who was cheating the cap.

Roosters couldn't complete a set in the last 20 mins lol

Stuff like when they defended their line for 5 sets in a row in the first half takes its toll in the back end of matches

Absolutely. I don't blame Brooks; he is who he is. It ain't gonna change. Madge, Sheens and co have the responsibility.

No bloody idea. But I do know this, if Madge persists with Brooks, then it will be the hill he dies on. Like the others.

Croft had the cattle at Storm and Broncos. He was even made co-captain at the Broncos. They didn't make that excuse.
@Speed2burn I think we all agree that we need the cattle. It's just not a good excuse for Brooks anymore.

Don't want to bring yet another thread down and turn it into another Brooks basher vs Brooks supporter tete a tete. (There are plenty of other threads for that!)
Re his game on Fri night: while I didn't rate his halfback play, his running and support game were on point. If he played more as a 6 .... that's another discussion.

Anyway, we won the match, I was chuffed and I rubbed it into every Roosters fan I could find.
It's a win and I'll take it!
We are one in a row!

Maybe you should be watching the games, in the first trial he was kicking against a strong wind and rain , and even then did a fine grubber kick through and got it past the Manly winger and found touch, he also set up Tuilagi for the only try we got.

Brooks has been consistently one of our best players, if not the best player since he has been in first grade, if he is as bad as you say, what does it say about the players around him.

We beat the Roosters, Brooks played well, as did a lot of our players that night, and all you can be is negative
