Poor Luke. With no friends here he doesn’t stand a chance with the media

Im still betting Luke will deliver much better performances this season with a capable,experienced,matured 5/8 in Hastings along side of him...
My reasoning is that Hastings has a point to prove and knows the play maker role very,very well...he will definately let Luke call the shots but will be there to take the pressure off him....
If you look back at when Benji was beside him.Benji made the calls,had the ball in hand 8o% of the time and Luke could only kick,have a small amount of runs and had to tackle his arse off because of Benjis deficiency in defense..
I noted and did say that the last trial game was an indication that I reckon Lukes running game will be back,he has proven that it is his biggest strength....and Hastings knows that....

We will remind each other when the season starts. The worst halfback in the nrl and the only constant in us not playing finals football in how many years. I can’t wait for him to be shown up by Hastings and dropped to Nsw cup and then shipped to Newcastle.

The most interesting point from the Wests Tigers trial win over the Roosters is that they played their best football when youngster Jock Madden replaced Luke Brooks in the halfback role.

No club needed a trial match victory as much as Michael Maguire’s team in a huge confidence booster for round one against a Melbourne Storm team without Cameron Munster, Harry Grant and Brandon Smith.

Brooks will obviously start in round one but must deliver. Madden showed that he is definitely first grade material.

Is first grade material similar to a single malt scotch whiskey, but only if it is gluten free!

Maybe you should be watching the games, in the first trial he was kicking against a strong wind and rain , and even then did a fine grubber kick through and got it past the Manly winger and found touch, he also set up Tuilagi for the only try we got.

Does just passing the ball to Tuilagi who then runs over two blokes really count as setting him up? I could've thrown that pass with the same results haha

Okay he found touch once, DCE kicked a 40/20, forced repeat sets and repeatedly turned our team around with his kicking. Brooks couldn't do the same and it was a big factor in us losing

I agree but to me that means nothing. Players need to prove themselves regularly. We have options in the halves. The best performing players should be picked.

I'm not writing Brooks off and I figure he gets first shot. He needs to perform though because Hastings, Doueihi and Madden all want a spot.

Yes I agree with that, however you get some on here, that would put Madden in on the basis that he did a few good things in the last 15 minutes of a trial game. which is absurd. If Brooks was replaced it would need to be either a huge drop in form, or on the back of some very consistent good performances.

Ok, So now Brooks has to get an assist by putting someone through a hole, and not get touched. Really we would all have a laugh if you got on the paddock, let alone pass a ball to Tuilagi.

DCE had a howling breeze behind him, and Brooks did not have the same opportunity, cause he did not play the 2nd half, though Madden started the 2nd half. It seems like you did not see the game?

Personally, I thought Brooks had one of his better games. He ran the ball more and was more involved. I think having Hastings next to him has and hopefully will take some of the pressure off him. I am prepared to see how the work with each other.

The weakest link from what I could see was Nofo, he seems to have gotten slower if that is possible or maybe it was just the conditions. Once again happy to see how he goes.

Simpkin isn't up to that. He is a 2.

Simpkin is a way off but it's now the kids big opportunity thats for sure.
Start the season fresh with speed and agility often catches the bigger men out early in the season.
Suspect we will see him start with Peachey cover him when he goes off.

NRL won’t allow it they’ll only allow players outside the 30 if its due to COVID so Simpkin to start and Peachy will cover unless Tigers decide to make Rua our 30th player for 2022 than maybe Rua gets a bench spot but don’t know if they’ll do that yet

Going to be a long season of Brooks bashing, reminds me of the Fitzy bashings all those years ago. Every game, every week. It’s the same old same old.

I agree he is no Cooper Cronk, but every week he gets smashed by supporters of this club. If you don’t think he is up to scratch, vent your anger at Madge who picks him.

After being a Balmain and now WestsTigers man for over fifty years, I can tell you Brooks is a gun compared to plenty of sevens we have tried over the years.

He literally gave Tuilagi the ball, Tuilagi then ran a few metres and trampled defenders. Sure it's technically a try assist but Tuilagi did 95% of the work for it...

I watched the game champ, Brooks had a bog average Kicking game as per usual the last few years. His short kicking used to be a feature of his game and it disappeared. Wind or not he can find more than one good kick in 40 minutes
