LIVE GAME Wests Tigers v Melbourne Storm..

Live Game Discussion
Brooks got caught with th ball a lot it seemed last night.... He's so predictable it's bordering on tedious, that sidestep of his that fools no one does my head in
I thought Brooks kicking was very good. The combination he is developing with Ken and Jackson has a lot of promise.
Better judges than myself reckon a spine needs 15 or more games together to start developing to the next level.

teams on the bottom have been proven to never get the rub of the green , Forward pass that is part of a try , and no penalty for incorrect play the balls by Melbourne on 3 occasions was poor by the ref , Paps one was just wrong , but soon as we do it , bang they pull us up , no excuses but this all adds up , we also need a captain that should be in the refs face screaming it out what they are missing , we need a strong defender added to our team and a captain like Cameron smith who would bug the ref into submission

Anyone hear extent of Simpkin injury? Wonder if Segeyaro still available, could be alright for some cheap cover

Great to see the negativity round 1. Second half was poor but Storm beat us with more class. If we repeat that performance weekly we will be a much improved side.
Agree TYGA. Objectively do we have a back that is as good as Hughes or Papenhuyzen, or Olam and a forward as good as Welch, NAS, or Kafusi? Even severely down on troops, the ones Storm have in key positions are a class above.

Going into the game I would have taken a 26-16 loss any day, but the way we lost that was pathetic...

Team went balls to the wall in the 1st half and think it showed in the later part of the game. We consistently look like the unfittest team in the comp, but also Madge could have used our bench better IMO

My only question out of that game, or how about the fact that Maumalo’s 12-pt turnaround was automatically given no try, when old mate pea-heart was in front of the play? He looked for all money to have gotten it down… I’ll absolutely accept that in the end, with camera angles, he didn’t grass it. But, where’s our benefit of the doubt or 50/50 calls that other shitter teams get? When is it our turn?
Bellamy said the ref made Storms job harder.

I think tonight showed how important a proper halfback is. If Jahrome Hughes and Luke Brooks were swapped, the Tigers win that game comfortably

It's a good point but if you swapped Hughes and Hastings we win that game as well. Hughes is a running half very similar to Brooks. He is just a lot better.

Tough one for us. We tried really hard but too many unfortunate errors especially in the second half gave them more footy at our end and poor D in our own 20 lost the game.
As for individuals- i thought our centres were poor in their defensive reads. Gildart also made a few poor decisions in attack that were costly. This is still a problem as AD’s defence is no better.
Peachy is looking average to me.
Simpkin and Laurie both have areas of their games that need improvement if we are to move up the ladder. We get carried away with our supposed “young guns”- for example Wishart looks a far better dh than Simpkin at the moment, and Laurie is still a lightweight.
I thought Brooks tried hard and played well as did our wingers and edge forwards. Hastings was just OK - he has a good attitude and will hopefully get used to the speed of the NRL.
The quality of players such as Welch, Kaufusi, NAS, Hughes, Paps was too much for us in the end.

I think we will know how our season is going to go by round 6 , this amount of games should get the team use to each other , Gildart I thought was ok and I liked the fact he put that kick in late in the game , shows he was trying and thinking , Hastings just needs to get use to the speed of our game , Roberts I also thought was ok , forwards were good first half , Brooks again I thought he tried hard just needs to change his game a bit , Cronk. Called it out , kick early , kick to the corners or kick for touch , change the game a bit

Honestly, this team is no different to last year. Same poor goal line defence, same poor attacking options, same simple errors, same poor interchange decisions - same everything.

If halfway through the season we are close to the top 8 I’ll gladly apologise for my negativity.

That's a bit like comparing apples and oranges though. That wasn't Hastings role in the game plan. Compare Hastings to Nick Meaney for a like for like and there wasn't a great deal of difference. It was obvious that Hastings has been instructed to just back Brooks up and play second fiddle

I'm not buying this. Hastings is one of our key signings and it's his job to step up and win us the game.

The halves were so poor tonight , imo.

AD is a creative genius compared to these two.
Game changer, no one's keeping him out.

I saw a massive disconnect between 7 and 6 tonight, no communication, no collaborative efforts.

I hope it's just rust and they combine well going forward but I also have my doubts. Early days tho....
Surely you Dan see that Brooks is the problem ? He has failed to ever collaborate with anyone, Hastings should not just be another sacrificial lamb, the guy can ress as lay play.. he’s at least as good as Todd Carney!
