LIVE GAME Wests Tigers v Melbourne Storm..

Live Game Discussion
Goal line defence is always our biggest issue. Every set a team has on our line we look paper thin. All a team needs to do is play direct, one pass from the ruck which draws our outside men in then pass out the back and boom, they’re in.

I think we will know how our season is going to go by round 6 , this amount of games should get the team use to each other , Gildart I thought was ok and I liked the fact he put that kick in late in the game , shows he was trying and thinking , Hastings just needs to get use to the speed of our game , Roberts I also thought was ok , forwards were good first half , Brooks again I thought he tried hard just needs to change his game a bit , Cronk. Called it out , kick early , kick to the corners or kick for touch , change the game a bit
While on Brooks..I think the pack need to play smarter. We need to look after our half better. In a team which did around 15% more tackles, their 7 Hughes did only half as many tackles as our half. If we’re expecting Brooks’ energy to lift at crucial times like Hughes did, then why is he defensively doing more than most of our forwards?

I’m going to answer my own question here..
We’ve only ever had one or two good, clever forwards in our pack for half the club’s history. Fix that and it comes together.

Just recovering from watching that game last night.
And yep it’s just another “Groundhog Day” episode.
This team just lacks talent, skill and consistency to achieve progress on the field.
Defence unit produces a great 40 minutes and then progressive decline for the rest of the game.
Attack is just not there yet but could be at best considered work in progress.
Im baffled by the coach and his staff on their inability to at half time, fire up the group to maintain the levels of enthusiasm and consistency necessary to win games like this.
We just lack leadership and class in this group of players.
I disagree with most ….. on two second rowers …. whatever they brought in attack they discounted with defence errors.
Brooks who had a reasonable game, lost me with that hospital pass to Gildard and constant running into traffic.
This performance gets the team a pass mark on first half performance only but I don’t see anything here that is going to get us of the bottom of the table in 2022 season.

We were in that game for 60+ minutes and put a bit of a scare into the Storm. 3 Storm players left the field with major injuries (2 out for the rest of the season ???). It wasn't a walk in the park for the Storm like most were anticipating.

Hastings needs to dominate more and maybe play him halfback with Brooks to five eight?
No game plan to put Roberts in the clear?
Second row needs rotation as they become defence liabilities?
Starford Toa to replace Gildart?

Madge has done his best with this side but it’s not good enough and think he will be gone by mid season

After watching the game twice unfortunately it shows that we don’t have the cattle to make the top 8.
That game we should have one,the Storm had top line players out, major injuries and still won.
They have that will to win attitude and play for each other, that other clubs just don’t have.
We look at least better than last year but still 3 top line players short to push for a top 8spot in my eyes.

The new recruits didn’t offer much. Hastings is slow, Gildart couldn’t tackle his grandmother, and the Peach was just meh.

I thought Peachey and Gildart were both good but my expectations were low. I expected a lot more from Hastings.

Watching that game once was painful enough, to watch it twice? That is the kind of mental toughness out guys need.

I rewatched the game this morning to see if I missed all his talk and energy that was much lauded about him. Didn’t see it. Besides one neat grubber that got us a repeat set, he didn’t offer much.
