Brooks Bashers Bore Me

The question is does Brooks fit into our top team ? I'm not sure.
He can’t close a game out. That’s a given.
Has he played well this year? I would say for the most part yes.
He was good against Melbourne for 55-60 minutes. He had patches of good defence v Newcastle but was otherwise underwhelming and he was good against Warriors for 65 minutes.
So if we agree he has been pretty good this year yet remains winless, having lost two games in the final stretch that were very winnable, I have to say he fits in but not as a half. I and others have been calling for at least two years for him to be tried as a hooker. Our depth at the moment won’t allow for this so I’m afraid we’re stuck.

Daine L did Brooks no favours last night. It was a nice play and should have resulted in points - but there where was still numerous opportunities to take the game.

Facts don’t care. We can’t even keep great players we produce like Tedesco, so what chance have we had to go sign an elite halfback from another club?
Well first of all, you tie down talent like Ted, you keep developing talent like Moses. You hire some workhorses to help out battlers like Woods. You put all the pieces in place then have a crack. And when you have that crack, you take your choirboy uniform off and get in the mud with the good clubs.

I basically agree. We don't owe him anything. We also have 3 really good options now in Doueihi, Hastings and Madden.

It's up to the coaching staff to work out where we play these guys.

He has been a sure pick for years and we've been poor. He cops way too much attention. I don't like it. That doesn't mean he should be a sure pick in our team.

I don't know what the best options for our halves are. The problem I have with Brooks is that he plays well for instance in 2 games this year but puss in the other.
To this point I haven't seen anything from all of the other halves contenders at the club that has them above the level of Brooks and certainly arguably not at his.

He is NRL level and walks into one of the halves roles, likely the first picked when all available, as lead up plays and that in which Lucy was denied a try from Luke's assist plays in the background as I write shows.

On another tack, the more I see Peachey come on in the extra ball player role, the more I dislike how it affects our patterns.

He is looking like a dud signing. It's not that he is a dud player either. He plays good off the cuff footy but he doesn't seem to be fitting in. He is also undisciplined.

You went to the movies last night didn’t you? Because you didn’t watch the football. Troll.
I watched it, like I have every game. He's deadset in the bottom 4 halfbacks in the game.
Running game 3/10
Kicking game 3/10 (2 good kicks, 30 crap ones)
Passing game 3/10
Defence 4/10

No team in the top 8 would take him on as their primary half. He could be a decent foil if paired with a dominant half but he will never be the main man for any decent side

Remind me not to watch footy with you because you’re a poor judge.

Lol, you must be one of these Muppets that enjoys losing and constantly being crap.

Tell me, other than the kicks for the 2 potential try assists, what did Brooks do well last night?
There was also two repeat seats
Ran for 145m
Defended stoutly
A cross field kick for luci which he spilled
A shift late that Laurie dropped costing us the game
Two classy shifts that nearly resulted in tries late in 1H
Completely took over the game early in 2H before a Musgrove dumb error and Noffa dumb error swung all the momentum

He’s constantly puts himself in the game only for those around him to come up short

Maybe they should punt him to a better club ?
Cash our way
