Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Has the Pom got any info on the Brooks situation? Where there is smoke there is fire.

What about Pele or Nikora?

I think this a long shot but is the offer to Nanai being considered?

Do we have any talent coming through? We used to have heaps now it seems like we have nothing in the lower grades...
Logen Dillon but the club hates him apparently.
Couldn't get a win with the Ryde Hawks.

Zane Camroux... classy 6 that's also played 7 and 1.

Bray Guyan, lock.
Henry O'Kane, 2RF.

Looking good.

Cause they are helping us by taking brooks they say we will take brooks and help you out by taking Thompson its a you scratch my back ill scratch yours situation
Throw in a family feast for the boys and that's a fair deal.

Wasn't there a rumour we're talking to two dogs reserve graders as well ?

I think people need to chill on Simpkin. For me, he's shown enough at this point in his development. He can handle himself in the middle in defence. He just doesn't have enough gas in the tank to maintain his skillset with the ball in hand on top of making 30-40 tackles.

Remember, he missed 2 years of development in NSW cup, and he is still only 20 years old.

Let's look at the ages of the younger hookers going around the NRL:
  • Wayde Egan - 25
  • Jake Turpin - 25
  • Jacob Liddle - 25
  • Jayden Brailey - 25
  • Harry Grant - 24
  • Erin Clark - 24
  • Mitch Kenney - 24
  • Reed Mahoney - 23
  • Blayke Brailey - 23
  • Sam Verrills - 23
  • Tom Starling - 23
  • Reece Robson - 23
  • Reuben Cotter - 23
  • Tyran Wishart - 22
As you can see, he is 2-3 years behind the other hookers in the comp. He has improved since last year and we can expect that he'll continue to. Give him time.
Good post mate funny how this forum rip into players , it wasnt long ago they were all into Liddle , but unfortunately Simpkin will cop the blame for the loss and will be dropped tomorrow into reserve grade .

I'm not sure how to explain it. I look at Cronulla and I see good club culture. They don't always have a star-studded team, but they know how to win, even in their down years. They've had overpaid-has-beens on their cap for a number of years (guys like Woods, Dugan, Moylan, Fifita), yet still they were able to win games consistently.

Idk. He’s never played hooker in his life to my knowledge. Probably a bit late in his career for it to be a success. Wouldn’t be against seeing him given a go though. He needs something to refresh him.
You can’t just stick someone in 9 it’s an absolute artform nowadays with the importance of the speed of the ruck and that’s a big part of our issues. It contributed to our poor last 10 mins on the weekend.

He is going ok.
As Garry pointed to in the podcast. Brooks put that try on a plate for Laurie, if he catches the ball and scores, that would make Brooks the best player on the park.
If Brooks had a Nanai chasing his kicks you would probably be singing his praises.
I don’t doubt you heard what you heard but it was probably something that came up during a brainstorming session. It’s not a realistic option.
Nailed it mate. Brooks has needed a nanai his whole career. Look at the relationship Thurston had with his second rower, Joey with Peden and BK. Pearce and Cordner. It’s critical.
