Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Payne Hass

Looking for 1Million a season and may leave Donkeys to get it.

Honestly, I would sacrifice our two best players to get him.
Of all the Bronco forward Superstars. IMHO he has had the most guts.
He's the best prop of recent years.
By far.

Game breaker.
Follower of the teachings of Islam.
A true leader and massively improves those around him.

Maybe one of the Brisbane WT brothers can get in his ear? Didn’t Mikaele play with him in juniors, Madge would be good for the guy too actually 🤔

I’d take Haas over the other 3 and call it a bargain, but believe me Nanai is more realistic.

Mikaele and Haas, playing together in 2023 🫂

... at the dolphins, lol.

Can't see Thomas being extended, signed a one year deal for a reason and hasn't shown any improvement. Another Lamar Leovevave I think.

Yeah Pele would be the right move for his spot. Looks like Tarzan and plays like jane
Pele is a gun, runs it off the back fence incredibly hard.

Showed more in 1 trial game than Tommy's whole career.

Pack is getting overhauled

Outs (imo - some guaranteed)

Tamou, Kelma, Luciano, Garner, Offa, Mikaele

In (so far)
Papalii

Need some more.

Only one we’d definitely keep out of that lot, IMO, is Offa. Garner would need a Dally M season at centre!

Harry was an outlier though. No other club would have third stringer as good, including the Roosters, Souths, Parra etc. Same with Paps - he was a third stringer at the Storm, who got a go due to injuries and didn't look back.
It’s true. It’s a one in a kind scenario. Given the fact that last years Melbourne hooker won Hooker of the year even though Harry is the most talented at the club. Harry may have been second string but he was still more talented than a backup hooker. Look at Hynes as well for example. Melbourne could of got away with replacing either Munster or Hughes with him and wouldn’t of skipped a beat.

Offa has a 1 year option for next yeah, doesn't he...

He'll take it up if the dolphins don't come knocking......

He's been OK in 2022.
I'm not convinced though but he's 1 of our better performers.
His engine is a lot more improved this year.
Still in the thick of the penalties and the poor discipline is constant.
Tidy that up and he would be a value forward. Can’t understand why he hasn’t made a fist of prop. If he played just that bit harder and focused less on endurance his mobility would be valuable in the front row.

I can almost guarantee you - If the Tigers become a more competitive team, We will be penalised less (So will Joe)
It's just the way it's always laid for struggling clubs - We're always kicked when we're down, On and off the pitch...

Nanai won’t play like that every week. He’s 19, he’ll probably be up and down for a couple years before he gets a bit older. Hard to maintain that form at that age.

These days top line talent yet to debut into the NRL costs 150-300k then the gap drops big time cost wise after that. For Nanai/Herbi and others you're paying for potential which will be costly because they are known. For our club we pay a premium if they just have NRL experience.

I would prefer to go all in on a few kids with huge talent to try something very new for us and see if we can build something big.

Stefano, Simpkin, Papa, Talau are young adding Nanai + another few kids for 2023, add a few others in 2024 & again more in 25 = in 2-3yrs we will have a very powerful team. If we nab a few emerging talents I have zero doubts we will attract better quality players as well after them. If they go on a big success story together most will stay together longer as well. The salary cap will increase allowing us to still be competitive in retaining them.
