Madden never been the best attacking 7 in nsw cup.
So Deflating....
Seriously though, New coach - New halves - New anything doesn't seem to help change our kick chase - Our line speed... Nothing!!
For 100 years, We just seem to stand there and wait for the game to come to us.
Saw signs of improvement in patches this year, But we've just got too many lazy players to keep it up...

Isn't Gardiner our attacking / backs coach? He is looking out of his league atm.
When it comes to structure we look the most disorganised team in the comp.
It's nothing to do with injuries either as most of those injured wouldn't have played apart in the off season formation drills.
Zero setup play to shift, we appear to have a fantasy with a decoy runner but have zero idea how to use them effectively. We don't use a block play or anything. Our kick option taking is terrible.
Or Kikau, Or Mahoney...
Still not announced / registered as they're still over the cap.
Such a tigers move wouldn’t it be. Don’t resign Madden because we have Brooks, then finally get rid of Brooks when Madden is gone. For the best of all, Brooks needs to be moved on and Madden must replace him in the meantime on Hastings return

Unless we take a 2nd player maybe off them as well or pay a heap of freight.
I like Thompson he is better than what we have currently but he is way over paid for the value you get on the park and if we do a straight swap that puts our cap in a worse position for next year because of it I wouldn't be a fan of that. Hope that if this does happen we restructure the deal for an extra year or 2 and can balance some out of this years available cash to still let us play next 2-3yrs.
On top of that - Our decoys aren't scary....
I think Luc was still injured last night, He was quiet...
Kelma is the only player in our team that looks likely.
That's exactly what they're looking to do - They're waiting for us to:
- Sack Madge
- Sign Flanagan
So they can swap young Flanno and The Pom for Brooks with us paying a heap of frieght to them....
Watch it play out....

The way I see it the club has one true halfback and that's Madden, think Keary Reynolds, etc. We have 3/4 five eighths (Doueihi, Hastings, Brooks, Laurie). I have always loved brooksy but he just isn't that halfback we need. We cant lose madden. with the lack of quality 7s. Brooks can play the 6 role well. tackle hard, run the ball, kick pressure. eg. wighton. I want to see brooks get the chance to keep his career here. but imo that's at 6 with madden 7 hastings 13 and doueihi center when he returns.
At the end of 2023 Luke Brooks, Jahrome Hughes and Cameron Munster are all off contract
Hughes reportedly going to re-sign with Storm on 800k
Which means Munster would have to take a pay cut on his current $1 million
Brooks reportedly on 900k to $1m in 2023 - throw Brooks money plus whatever it takes at Munster
On NRL360 this week you could see Braith was annoyed Hughes was going to be re-signed by Storm leaving less $$$ for Munster

There are a bunch of options for those 4 players. It's up to the coach to make the right choices. I think we have to be able to get two good halves and win more games and maybe even improve another position. Douiehi could even play fullback. Yep he is slow but he brings the ball back strong, busts the line and can ball play.
I also don't think Brooks should be the focal point of our attack. I'd like to see Hastings and Doueihi in the halves. Madden has been good though. You'd have to pick Madden over brooks for the 7 spot.
Hastings was signed as a lock, Madden can play 7, AD can play centre
6 and 7 are also interchangeable
I don't think it hurts to ask - Dolphins seem to have Kalyn as their priority -
Braith also said on 360 the other day Dolphins had not enquired on Munster

Hopefully we learnt our lesson last time, signing MBye to a big money deal, which a) helped them out of their salary cap mess and b) broke ours, with us still paying for him to play elsewhere.
I would rather see them sort out their own mess, with us not being involved at all. A player swap involving Brooks may be the way to go, but not with them and not for a prop.
Has come out this morning that Munster has been granted a release to look elsewhere.
Doesn't hurt to ask - But he's not chosing us over the Sunshine Coast.
Hastings D isn't good enough for 13.
Do we have to wait for AD to get back?
