Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Daily Telegraph reporting Jock Madden will be testing his value on the open market from Friday. Jock isn’t content to bide his time behind Luke Brooks
Given Madden was offered by his manager a fortnite ago to Raiders for THIS year...its not really news tbh
And totally understand his pathway being blocked by Brooks Hastings & Douhi...
... arent sure hes gonna be knocked over in the rush.Hes fringe NRL at this stage

From ZeroTackle.com .. :
Shane Flanagan may be forced to look towards England to get back into a head coaching role.

That is the shock revelation which has been made following the Wests Tigers opting out of wanting anything to do with the former Cronulla Sharks head coach, and current St George Illawarra Dragons recruitment and list management consultant.

A former premiership-winning coach, Flanagan has made no secret about his desire to move back into a head coaching role following the expiration of his suspension from the NRL.

SEN reporting Tigers yet to talk to daine Laurie about a contract extension off contract after next year.

Bit of a mess who our long term 1 and 7 are.

He's contracted until the END of 2023!! FFS
He's not Tedesco or Turbo...

Why would we be looking to lock him up long term,
- He's below ordinary
- What current Fullback would any club be looking to replace with him

He's not going anywhere based on his last 12 Months - Lucky to have a gig.

1 mil for Haas seem high to most on here but you all know we are at the bottom and not made the finals for like 10 year... I would have no problem offering him 1m for 4 year as he is a Prop that can play like 70mins a game if needed. Add the fact he would have great pulling power for other recruits, TPA would help with his salary and the Corp dollars he would bring would be top of the cake.. Lets not kid ourselves he would be a game changer for us and put creditability back in the joint..
BUT in saying that he will end up at Roosters or Souths on like 500-600k for the love of it and brown paper bags.. This is where the NRL need to grow some balls and say to other clubs if you want to sign him he must be on a min of 750k etc.. on the salary cap regardless.
Haas has been pretty ordinary this season so far. Maybe he will push the mental health wheelbarrow to get a release in the coming months.

He's a Bulldogs junior but has come through the grades with us.

He looks way better than Laurie.

I get you're a fan, he has potential that could manifest into something (which is a big could) but to say he looks way better than Laurie that's ridiculous.

He was demoted from NSW Cup 2 weeks ago. Let's be real on our prospects. Dillon is a mile off unless our injury crisis gets a bucket load worse.

So far this year Dillon hasn't looked close and Laurie has a large gap to all our other fullback candidates (which is really no one) atm which says alot about our squad currently even with his bad form.

not deserving of a contract extension at this point. needs to start delivering onfield. when he starts doing that then I'm sure the club will be willing to open talks.

Laurie has been exceptionally safe under the high ball bar that one game. I can accept it as a consequence of his injury and regaining confidence. I rate Laurie very highly and he will return to form.

Dillon is a fine prospect but has areas of his game he needs to refine. This is normal for a young player especially playing fullback. I expect him to come on in the next year and be a dominant force for WTs.

Appreciate the responses re Hass. For me if he wasn’t such an arrogant bloke off the field I reckon the combination with Stefano could set us up for a decade. Both props have different skill sets but could benefit hugely from each other’s output.
I disagree that Prop isn’t an area we need to focus on. We need a couple of guys that can just keep getting us up the field into the opposition half.
In saying that, a lot of talk that he will end up at the Roosters. I know they won’t have SST next year but would they pay 1 mil or even close to for Hass?
All good. Just don’t step on his shoes

correct, too many people on this forum have the attention span of 5 femto seconds. Laurie was arguably between 2-3 of our best last year!

Imo opinion, dillon is another pre season away from first grade, and whether its with us is another question, he needs time, as ive stated before , and left in the fullback role week after week to iron out the mistakes in his game. And we didn't allow that with papenhuyzen, we penned him after limited time against men and the decision was made that he would never see nrl with us.
Very similar this kid in stature and speed, already shows ticker carting the ball through the middle at 80 something kilos, but he is not there yet in consistency , confidence, and decent senior halves around him to work with. Im not saying he will make it to the nrl , nobody know's that , and for his own development, who knows if this is the best place for him, as some other posters have said, what players really improve at the tigers , not many, just hope whoever we persist with going forward can kick on and improve, some big changes would have to happen of the park in my opinion for us to turn into a club that churns out junior prospects making the step up, year after year.

Toatally agree balmain boy, although with the game speeding up , and another reduction in interchanges, and coaches who like or there philosophy is on ball pressing, will be interesting to see if the little guy's coming through will find there way to the top grade.
