Simpkin showed tonight he is worth holding onto put him behind api next year and he will learn so much playing reserve grade then when api finishes up we have a great replacement at the club already lined up

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. He had two brooks-like chokes before eventually winning it. Don’t get me wrong I think he’s a leader and well worth persisting with at halfback.

Fair call, I like that he explained that in the post match interview though, understanding those breakdowns will hopefully help us suck less in close games.

Definitely played nervous at the death but with all the pressure of losing 5 in a row I get it. The form of our spine and middles gives me hope we may not run last this year. Few more players emerged to work with in 2023 today too.

Munster was a fullback first up in NRL. Yeah he was lethal there as he is at 5/8.

Never seen an individual bring a team together like him before.

He even had the fowards running great lines and players in motion. Real team player and kudos to management on getting him here. Reminded me alot of Farah with his passion and strive to win.

He did it over in the ESL.
It's one thing to grab players from winning cultures but its another all together to bring someone who knows how to be apart of a team struggling and then learn how to win. Those players are very rare. Hastings though is showing some top line qualities. It's early early days but he has been very impressive so far.

Looking back at it the halves switch up came about at the perfect time.
Some say should of happened in the off season. But whose to say they didn’t train at times that way.
What I feel though is starting the season off out of respect for the team Hastings was happy to slot in and be the fill-in player. But after his Suspension and playing a younger but similar role player in Madden alongside Brooks it just wouldn’t of been the right call to give a 5-6 game rookie control of the team. But with Hastings coming back and the losses mounting it just seemed the perfect time to go with the preferred set up. And we’ll it worked well, Brooksy still played the same way he plays but he wasn’t pressured into having to play the game of chess on the field that I feel Hastings revels in. Cronk also mentioned a very important fact and you can only see it in practice but Hastings shortened up the middle third for Brooks and Laurie, he sucked in the Parra defence with the inside and outside balls in and around the ruck.

If by some chance, let me rephrase that, miracle, he comes here I think he would be ⅝, but after tonight I don't know.
I liked the way Brooks gave great service tonight when he went into dummy half.
I think if Brook started and stayed at hooker his whole career he would be a super star.
The reason our spine played well tonight was because our forwards played so well.
I just watched it again and it's hard to be critical of any forward.
