The Democrats in the usa won easily at the last election despite what Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon claims and yes it was a landslide of 7 million votes
 
the interllects think if they talk long enough ,the people they look down on will actually listen,maybe their just trying 2 confince themselfs.Really hope Australia is not dumb enough to plunge our country into the independents having sway over the nation after all the wacko 2 1/2 years we have all been through,vote responsably folks
 
The failed submarine programme cost the taxpayer $5.5bn. I indicated on the shipbuilding thread the frigate contract is also problematic with the Hunter Class running years behind and doubts the design can accommodate CEAFAR L2 and Aegis despite these requirements being known when the tender was issued.

We learn now the Secretary for Defence has been dispatched to the UK to discuss the frigate with BAE and no doubt the UK Government in the caretaker period which I find to be highly unusual. If Labor are elected, I speculate the Hunter Class will be scrapped in favour of an upgraded Hobart Class destroyer design.

The Type 26 frigate upon which the Hunter Class is based is being built in Glasgow. The first, HMS Glasgow, may have come in heavier than designed, which is normal in ship construction but that impacts the Hunter Class. This is something the Government should have been aware of when selecting a design which is not mature. We'll see how much this will cost the taxpayer.

Have to disagree Stryker. Whoever is in government when independents hold the balance of power, instead of pushing through whatever takes their fancy they actually have to argue their case. And if the independents in question are not nutters the resulting legislation is usually improved.

My favourite independent of all time was Ted Mack who was the member for North Sydney in the early 90's. If every politician in the country modelled themselves on him the country would be in a much better state.

Can you think of one current politician who, just before they would have qualified for a lifetime parliamentary pension, deliberately timed their resignation so that they would NOT qualify for it? No, nor me.

You're correct about Ted Mack. An honourable man in a dishonourable business. Sadly, for every Ted Mack there's one hundred Brian Harradines.

Not necessarily so, exhibit 1: Italy - they have very unstable government because there are no two historically dominant parties.
However, regardless Italy's economy is stronger than Russia,
13th-largest by GDP 2022,and 8th in 2021, for comparison Australia is 14th, and Italy's GDP is 1/5th of China's.
Exhibit 2: Israel, GDP 467, 30th
So, hung parliament can only be a nuisance to a party, and at the same time have neutral/positive effect to countries.

You reckon. I see the opposite. I think the right have changed. They've become whiners and liars.

The days of conservatives believing in small government, fiscal responsibility, free trade and the right of the individual has been turned on it's head.

The Twitter purchase is a classic example. These lying right wing scum are getting so excited over this purchase it's hilarious.

The right now want hand-outs, they want their culture imposed onto others and they lack integrity. They whine so much as well.

I hate the whining.

The culture wars for instance are a right wing fantasy that they've created to whine about. It's one of the reasons I'm voting liberal. Morrison tried to put in that religious discrimination bill which was designed to discriminate against trans or gay people who make up such a tiny percent of the population. I've never even met a trans person.
