Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Hearing a couple of pieces of information on some of the rumours/suggestions mentioned previously.
There was interest for Aitken, but it is not going to happen.
Bird to us for 3 years to play 2nd row. The extra year over the Dragons is looking like the clincher.
Things can obviously change quickly, but this is the latest I have heard from my sources.

just depends on price for Birdy for mine. $450k absolute max. if he can stay injury free it would be a masterstroke. he is a gifted footballer, but his issue has always been durability.

All depends on price for birdy. Good player but him staying injury free is a concern. Wouldn't want to be paying any more than 450k a season.

Screams sheens all over It, tbh I actually like it. 7 years ago I’d be saying oh noooo but the games changed since then, mobility is the key!

Tui was always a very highly rated youngster, lots of x factor and clubs interested in him. AJ on the other hand was a nobody, no one was interested in him yet he got a 3 year deal. Just bad recruitment

Um that's not correct. The Roosters signed him as an 18yr old to the NRL squad... at the time the reason why we got him was because the Roosters needed to make a roster space free for SBW.

Very strange one. Tui was preferred by the Roosters and we signed AJ to open up roster space for the roosters to bring in Sonny Bill.
Then neck minute Tui signs with Manly.
Why didn’t we look at Tui first is beyond my level of understanding 🧐

Christian Tuipulotu was highly rated in NZ Rugby before the Roosters signed him. Kepaoa was a NZ under age rep together with Toa. Kepaoa gets stuck playing on the wing when he should be right centre. He has the classical mix of power, step, pace and that great left to right pass reminiscent of some of the great All Black centres.

If I was chasing another back, it would be Rocco Berry from the NZ Warriors. He was sought after by NZ Rugby Teams but chose to come to the NZ Warriors.

If you watch the Townsville Blackhawks v Logan Schools match, watch out for the try from the Townsville winger Tekelu Mene. Absolute pace and not a huge man which is a joy to watch in the age of big and slow wingers.

Hymel Hunt, Isaah Tass, Joseph Paulo, Morgan Harper could all be starting centre but none of which you would be jumping at to sign.
Though with AJ back and To’a filling in ATM I a backup centre is really only a short term requirement.

Jesse Arthurs is a gun and would not break the bank.

What about Paul Turner? Think he went to Titans but haven't seen him play for them yet. Believe he covered FB and centre plus another position. Not sure how he goes but he'd have to be a better option than Harper.

Pretty sure he is off contract this year, very little talk of where his future lies from the media, so maybe no suitors. l would offer him a 2 year deal with the second year a mutual option to see if he can tow the line this time.

Yeah injuries are the concern. If he remains injury free, he would be a great buy for us imo.
