Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Last night Angus charged at the line, spun, and offloaded beautifully one handed for a try assist...absolute class. Completely outplayed Nikkora...

Yet we don't want to "pay overs".

You need to pay more to attract the top class players....

I really don't get it.

People will all be on this forum complaining next year, yet again, when our backrow depth is exposed again...and our front row stocks are shown to be short.

And wonder why we miss the finals.

Add Angus and Lodge and our 23 pack changes completely.

Add a "depth" back rower and prop from other teams state cup sides who are "value" and we will be right where we are again.
Yeah Crichton was very good. Made double the meters of either of our back rowers and actually managed a few tackle busts. Wouldn’t you hate to have a player like that 🤷‍♂️

So sick of the Scroog Mcduck mentality. Whenever there are good players available we don’t want to spend any money and then we wonder why we can’t get off the bottom of the ladder.

Yeah, class helps.

Again, I get the value argument. But in 2023 do we want a 'value' addition from Cronulla's state cup / Manly's lower grades / ESL...

Or do you want big Angus.

The "value" argument means you basically replace Tuilagi and Garner...with another Tuilagi and Garner.

Yeah I’m not saying start throwing money around like a crypto investor in a strip club but if you want quality you have to pay for it. And when you are perennial underachievers you have to pay a bit more again.

There’s no point having a pile of gold if you’re just going to sit on it. We need to start singing players who go straight into the top 13, not filling spots 20-30.

Some comments from a Chammas article today:

“It is the half way mark and we will be having a look at things,” Sheens said.

“With no game on there is plenty of time and less pressure to look at everything including our recruitment, our kids - who are being chased by a million clubs - and what we do with guys like Adam Doueihi and Jackson Hastings.”

“It’s not the defining moment but it’s a chance for us a catch our breath and have a look at things. There’s no doubt with Madge being under the pump lasty year, those sorts of things have been discussed. There’s no major decisions being made at this stage.”

Sheens confirmed the club will begin negotiations with the likes of Daine Laurie, Adam Doueihi and Jackson Hastings about extensions in the coming weeks.

“It’s only just this week past started to ring agents to see where we stand with them and how much they want,” Sheens said.

“We’re gauging the market and what it’s going to cost us.”

Iam now starting to get worried , the way it is working out we will not have any new players coming next year , and it will be the same old crap . We pay overs for crap players but refuse to pay overs for top class players , no wonder we are the laughing stock of the league.

Look at our prop rotation for next year…
Twal, Musgrove, Steph and ???
That has spoon written all over it despite Korisau and Papali’i joining us.

That just makes the club look unprofessional and dumb.
No it doesn't - Not at all.
I've kept more than enough jobs because I liked the place I worked, and the people I worked with.
Also for less money (Probably a larger percentage less than Angus in)

People in general if happy / comfortable where they are don't look to change anything...
From where they shop, Where they eat, What sort of car they drive - And yes, Where they work.
