Wests Tigers Coaches

Sheens said we are going to do junior development/progression better than we have been doing it. We're being pro-active and first step was bringing in a coach who has the skills to do it.
We do need to be better in dev/prog,but it would have been great if Madge didnt have to contend with the young guys not playing for nearly 2 years because of covid....
If he had a level playing field in that respect, who knows what he may have achieved..

It doesnt really matter Paws, you got your wish, just hope it works out for the club as a WHOLE not just for your self gratification...

Lets sign Cameron already and give him time to start to sign players for 2023.

Throw everything at Liam Martin and Matt Burton to join WT even if we lose some players of give money to sweeten the deal.

Cameron will come being part of an organisation who has played three consecutive Grand Finals (as a supporter of WSM and now WT I don't know what that feels like) and most likely win back to back titles.

As an Assistant Coach you want to one day try your hand at the top job and he appears no chance at Penrith.

Maguire to Warriors would be my suggestion.

We’ve already gone down the development path so no big news there from Sheenious.
Is being proactive making your supporters wait another 5 years for results … or just giving himself a free paying ride?

we were after Ciraldo last time, I doubt anything has changed. it's clear the club wants him due to his ability to develop the youngsters at Penrith, both in the Holden Cup and in first grade as interim coach and assistant. the additional 8 months that has passed seems to have only increased our appetite for him, and with Penrith winning a comp and his contract expiring in November the time is right for him to make the move. his work as a defensive coach can't be understated either. the way Penrith defended their way to a title last year would've had his fingerprints all over it.

John Morris shouldn't be discounted either. if anything he's more qualified than Ciraldo due to having a couple of seasons as a permanent head coach. also a former Sheens player and understands the DNA of the club having played for us. either of those two I would be happy with.

it's time for a coach for the modern game, not the decade previous. it's about nurturing the players we have in Matts, Ball and Flegg and taking the cream from those crops and turning them into regular first graders. Sheens carries on about the 50 game milestone, but he's right. we're 3-4 years off winning a comp but if we get this appointment right, we'll be even better than Penrith.

All coaches/clubs had to contend with Covid. Madge was never suited to WTs style of football/DNA imo. He was passionate about footy, worked hard and from what I know, a good bloke. But that his efforts got us so little is a reflection that it did not work at WTs. He may work at another club like the Dogs that traditionally play a forward orientated game.

Offa twal tamou musgrove Stephano I agree we are still a little light on in the front row department but the building blocks are there for the next coach
Offa should stay lock. That’s his place in this squad and he is doing well there this year, arguably our best player in 2022.
Twal is a solid defender but ineffective attacker. He does not get a roll on for the team and has zero footwork or ball playing.
Tamou will likely retire.
Musgrove is good in spurts but ill disciplined and not a leader.
Steph desperately requires mentorship and to be lead.

I reckon out of the 5 you have named, only 3 will play in the front row next year and those guys are a spoon level rotation.
Big trouble brewing in the engine room, meaning no one will be attacking from the front foot.

Assistant coach at both the Bulldogs and Raiders before Coaching our Under 20's in 2015 that contained Jacob Liddle. Te Miere Martan, Junior Tatola made the finals..then his wife got sick and passed away in 2017..he stepped away from coaching all together to raise his 4 daughters..

Understand all that...
He was however, in fact moved on from the position (Without so much as an interview to retain it)
Prior to his personal issues and following hiatus.....
Despite the history trying to be re-written.

It's not cold - It's the reality of what happened.

1 Ciraldo
2 Morris
3 Flanagan

In that order

Rule out flops like Nathan Brown, Paul Green and I agree with @batboy - nobodies coming to play under Woolf.

Despite what the media says, the Tigers are actually an appealing club.

- got money to spend
- OK roster just need some signings to booster it up.
- good juniors coming through
- COE is almost built

It's a project a potential coach could really sink their teeth into and make it their own. Build a team and make it functional + successfull.
Sheens is there to help but isn't hovering over you like Gould would.

Think Ciraldo could do a lot with the club, just has to turn his back on Cleary and the Panthers and realise that the moment he signs (if....) they're now the enemy.

Flanagan isn't even on my list....
All the media push is what he's done (Win a comp - Took a bottom feeder team to top 8 and comp)
No one ever mentions the lives and careers he could have possibly destroyed..
Nobody also mentions him shafting Carney and Barba the way he did.

He has no respect for humans, And word is he can't hold his assistants because they all think he's a pig....

I really believe that Sheens is going to turn this basketcase around. I was a big Madge fan until I thought it through yesterday and listened to Tim's comments. We need a coach who can develop the young talent coming through and unfortunately Madge is not that man, he is a passionate man manager suited to international teams but tactically and development wise he is not it. We may well lose the likes of Hastings etc but if they are not invested then who cares. We will be in for some painful years again blooding these youngsters but it will be necessary,it is not like we have been setting the world on fire anyhow. I hope Noddy pisses off some of the older bludgers now such as Tamou, Nofa, Garner, Brooks etc and regardless of results we see some young guys given a crack.

He's been the master of Spin his whole in the game....
Terms like Sheenius and Sheenanigans exist for a reason....

He sorta said in almost the same sentence
- I sacked the coach because we don't have results, I don't expect results for a few years...

Also filled the spots with Kids - Pole is def. top 30 next year - Maybe Fainu....
They're not going to replace what we're losing (Don't already have)

Don't worry - Sheens is in charge - There's always a plan
(Lets get Danny Galea into prop rotation)

I totally agree with this, shifty I totally trust and I have a strong believe that he has a lot of time for the club and I feel for Madge, but results are needed and shifty will make it happen

Yeah I love how people think you can just chuck green horn props into a cauldron like NRL and they’ll do a job week, after week, after week…
It takes years at NRL level for a prop to find his feet. Some idiots are claiming Steph will lead the pack next year…please…he will still be coming from the bench.
