Wests Tigers Coaches

A 5 year deal for a bloke who is untested in a head coach role.

Only for the tigers ..

Sack a proven coach whose won a grand final, finally built a solid roster, and has lured stars for next season only then to offer a rookie coach with no experience whatsoever a 5 year deal. How good is this club.
Madge might have been proven, he just wasn't working out for us. Players at Penrith might see the deal for ciraldo being 5 yrs and join up. Pure speculation tho.
Sheens is a crafty old bugger, we just have to trust him

Deer in the headlights when Coach was asked if he wanted the job full time.

Club has certainly put a line through any chance of being competitive this year.
I just cannot understand why Noddy was appointed Coach when... EDIT...Ben Gardner has been the Assistant Coach this year and did an outstanding job with Our KOE Cup Team last year.
Imo from listening to and watching the body language [no I am not a body language expert] from the Sheens/Noddy interview Noddy will not be Head Coach next year.

I don't think it's a choice of us or dogs for ciraldo.
I reckon it comes down to Penrith or us.
I've heard on the grapevine in bris that Gus is after toovey.
Don't hold me to that tho, the source is involved in the QRL

I could be way off (usually am) I'd say a deal has already been agreed with ciraldo. It's just media optics now until the official announcement.
Agree and if they announce too quickly it looks bad in the media eyes around how Madge was let go.. I think it will be another 2 weeks before announcement

Have only heard good things about Josh Hannay, has a connection to Maroons origin team as well. Did a good job as a caretaker coach at Sharks last year, did some caretaking of Cowboys before Payten. Same with Ciraldo, idk how much head coaching role they've actually done. I think Ciraldo did 2 years of u20s coaching at Penrith and that's about it.

Paul Green I've admired for a while as well. I like his style.

Kimmorley looked too excited, looked a bit immature.. I think he's had 2 years out of coaching prior to this.

Flanagan, I think he needs to go England.
Imo Noddy is perfect for bringing Our young blokes thru, but Head Coach, no way.

Idk why people think we’re even a chance of getting Ciraldo, given his close ties to Gus. As if Gus wouldn’t have head hunted him.
I don't think Gus wants him - For the exact same reason, Why hasn't Gus announced him, Why is he even talking to us - And all the more telling, Why hasn't he re-signed with Penrith.

I just cannot understand why Noddy was appointed Coach when Andrew Webster has been the Assistant Coach this year and did an outstanding job with Our KOE Cup Team last year.

Webster left the club years ago mate,

Ben Gardiner is one of the the assistants and was KOE cup coach last year.

I think Andrew Webster is at Penrith

Bellamy would be my definite no. 1 choice and the only choice to get WT to a Premiership before I fall off the perch 🙃 🤣 @jadtiger with our current assistant coach [is it Andrew Webster?] staying in that spot under Bellamy.
Only problem is Bellyache has just recently signed a 1 year ext with the Storm.
So,,,,,,,unless WT have been able to get Billy Slater which I doubt very much, my choice has to be Shane Flanagan with Andrew Webster or Ciraldo as his Assistant.
As far as Flanagan being a drug coach prev., I'm positive that will not be allowed to happen again and everyone should be entitled to a 2nd chance.
Bellamy signed a five-year contract with Storm in 2022 that allows him to decide each year whether he will continue in his role as head coach for the following season or transition into a coaching director role.

Can't see how any coach in his right mind would want to work under Gus and Ciraldo would have seen it first hand when Gus sacked Cleary.
Totally agree with your statement, looks at all the coaches that he has given the chop to. Even the way he tries to play innocent. Remember he said he said he was doing Cleary a favour when he sacked him.

I’m pretty disappointed in the club to be honest and genuinely feel for Madge. He may not have been perfect but his passion and determination to turn this place around is to be admired. He never gave up even when the players did. I think we were slowly starting to see some progress as a team, not necessarily as individuals. Apart from the second half against Souths we were turning up and having a dig and we were seeing improvements in players. Thanks for your efforts Madge.

Moving forward, Ciraldo seems to be the majority pick for who we’re after. Knows the Penrith system, has good relationships with players from all accounts, but so did Barrett and never been a full time first grade coach.

Payten in my opinion, is the next “Supercoach”. Smart, tactical and hates losing. Under contract and seems to love living in NQ, but has history with us and stranger things have happened.

Woolf - Tongan coach and done some good work in ESL. Wouldn’t be my pick.

Morris - I think he’s too inexperienced and we wouldn’t see much improvement for a long time under him. Sheens always loved him though.

Flanagan - controversial, but turned Cronulla around. Strong chance he brings his son along who I don’t rate.

Ryles - unproven, may throw his hat in the ring after time as the Storm and Roosters.

Farah - left field, but I wonder if Farah looks to move into an assistants role.

Paul Green - too similar to Madge and not really a development coach. Needs the cattle and has had a few recent unsuccessful attempts with other clubs.
Good post @tigertye You've put a lot of positive thought into it.

He was still pissed with Madge.
Possibly....
Was also Pissed at the coach in his first stint at the Eels,
For not playing him at 5/8.

Surely you don't believe he just got a last minute release in the off season and walked in to
more lucrative deal with the Eels... It was well pre-orchestrated.

Also shopped himself last year and had no takers - Saw an interview where he summarised there were no issues at the Tigers and he'd never say never at coming back...
(Or words to that effect)

Webster works for the Panthers.
