Luciano Leilua

This is what I don't get. We have spots and money already. Unless there is a mid season million dollar signing it's basically useless to us.

I think we've done this to do the right thing via Luc and the Cowboys.

I hope I'm wrong but I don't think the argument that we will upgrade players we want is factual.
Why should we be doing the right thing by the Cowboys? In the hope that they'll return the favour some day? No chance.

It just shows the club is weak IMO.

Simple.
The more you spend this year on uploading contracts to existing players (via contract upgrades or restructuring an existing contract to pay more this year and less next year) …. more you have uncommitted for next year and available for new recruitment.

I bolded the massive problem with this line of thought. It's simple but it doesn't make it true.

I think we've already established that we have spots and money within the cap right now for this year. Luc going isn't going to give us a lot more money.

It's extremely hard to upgrade players without throwing in extras. They have agents that will tell them not to make dumb decisions.

We don't even have many players that we should upgrade. Hastings and Doueihi are our two best players but they sound like they are on more than enough money for next season. Sure pay Hastings more this season without any return or maybe give him more this season for a couple more seasons.

I don't think there is much if any chance of making this work out fantastically well for us. I want to be wrong but I doubt it.

And in 2 years those players that you upgraded demand a further pay rise or a release & we get a press release wishing them all the best.

Luci said at the beginning of the year he wanted to play for Madge and the WTs and try to get them in the finals.....
Sack the coach and now Luci leaves early....how many are going to follow or not want to be here and play as he did last w/e....
The thing that irks me is I guarantee that Gus that gibberer will be on his show saying I told you so. I don't believe it tbh I think it's just an isolated instance, but hearing that fool gloat like he's the God of league does my head in.

Depending who the coach is it could work out well, as long as they can attract talent.

Presumably the club got money (undisclosed) from the cows for the early release.Undoubtedly there are celebrations in the boardroom because it now means they can have a few extra cases of Dom Perignon and Beluga Caviar for their next meeting.Sheens and Pascoe are invited to attend.

Yes i am being sarcastic but seriously this a total shambles

I Agree TT,
But if Luciano/Kelma/Garner truly cared about Madge you'd think that they would have tried harder with loyalty and tried staying with him at the club and not signing deals with other clubs behind his back

Contradictions of this kind make it seem more like a Dog eat dog business by the players.

I really dislike players who are on contract just being able to up & swap clubs mid season. What is the point of contracts if players continue to just do what they like?
Lucciano signed with Cowboys for next year yet he will be playing against us in a few weeks, it just seems wrong. Sure we might free up a few dollars but we are a starting player down and we seem to be unable to get big names even if we throw overs at them. The club looks weak and garbage like this isn’t helping our image.

Well in case of Hastings that may be the case but you have options …. had him for time you needed him and have a young gun as replacement so you let him go OR if not you pay him what he’s worth.
I just feel people on here sometimes just being negative for sake of negativity.
What benefit is there in having Lucy here (and he does have injury and form problems) for another 12 games if he doesn’t want to be here and you could use 50% of his contract more usefully.
