If that was our club that stuffed up like the cows have you would be screaming blue murder. So how come its only a minor hiccup for toddys clowns.
They are in the top four. Winning fixes most things. Our clowns probably spent the day celebrating getting an amateur team in a six team Comp.

Pretty much my thoughts too Paws

Cows wanted him but hadn't got their ducks in a row yet. We ask for a trade and they say no. We release the player immediately putting the onus on the Cows to sign him, with Sheens knowing well that they can't afford to do so. We have no obligation to the player for any future payments as his contract was mutually terminated. For the Cows to be cap compliant they need to release a player from their top 30 (who is willing to go) to free up the necessary cap space. If we make an offer for one of their players it may make it too hard for them to say no to, even if they don't want to trade.

Is that giving us too much credit? Sheens has always been known for being Shifty and very strategic.

On the other hand if we did announce it before the contract was officially terminated in writing by both parties then that would be extremely amateur, especially for a club who's chairman is a high profile lawyer.

Players i'd accept: Drinkwater, Hammer, Tuilagi, Luki, Nanai, McLean, Neame, Taunoa-Brown as possible targets. All (except Luki - 2025, Mclean 2022) are off contract at end of 2023 and can open discussions for 2024 in november. If we were to 'unofficially sign' one of these players on big money for 2024 then hopefully we negotiate an early release for the final year of their contract.
Looks like the onus is on North Queensland to provide Wests tigers with a reasonable replacement.

Yep, A player won't agree to terminate their contract without knowing they have they future secured at another club. We have the cap to take on any of their players, even JT, with immediate effect.

But.... we still need a coach to determine what players they do/don't approve of. But presumably any high quality player would be accepted with open arms at the right price... But need to finalise the coach in the next fortnight.

Maybe your not reading me properly Ampy. I’m not blaming us at all. Off he goes with my full blessing.

But when we sell a player, we need the deal honoured.

NQ’s credit card has bounced, not good enough.

Like buying petrol and driving off.
We didn't sell him - he asked for a release from his contract and we obliged. His options are :
- coming crawling back cap in hand and ask if we will reinstate him and play out season
- find another club who will pay till the end of season
- sit it out and find a new manager

Is that out of a WT statement? Or are the club just scrambling behind the scenes to figure this out?

Who says what he is implying is true? Sounds to me like they're trying to save their own skins

I played it back and found it interesting the wording & take back what I said for the moment.

The cowboys approached the players management & not us directly.

Normally how these things works is the players managers negotiates a deal with the club for a release. The clubs don't actually talk to each other and the losing club releases said player.

Paper work is signed, submitted to the NRL and then announcement is made.

The players manager is then on the hook to organise the gaining club terms & a contract.

If we have signed the paper work & then made the announcement great.
If not this will be a PR disaster at the worst possible time for us.

Signing a player without enough cash is something Justin would do.

But full credit to him this time ( he probably stuffed up per usual so we jagged it!)

We should get up there north, dump Lucy off and start repossession of $300k worth for their ground fixtures to spruce up the beloved LO.

Dump our KFC bones at their club headquarters as a reminder to the cows that they are our bitches.

I'd take McLean off their hands to help them fit in Luch.

He's unwanted there and could be a good pick-up for our middle forwards. Or is he past it?
