I seriously don't see how this is our stuff up? If Luc asked for the release and we granted it, effectively our contract has been voided as per his request. What he has or hasn't got lined up after is not our problem?

How is it we have jumped the gun when clearly someone from the cowboys was telling his manager to do it?
Why don’t we see this all the time? Because the clubs hold off on the announcements until it’s done.

Love your thinking. What would you propose?
Here’s my plan , we can get rid of 5-6 players at the end of the season , this is on top of the 3 backrowers, we have signed two guns , we need 2 backrowers a class centre , and maybe a front rower . I know people don’t want us to pay overs , but in the past we have done it with players at the end of there time , select who we want , Angus , and others who are rep players and in the early 20s And pay a price they can’t refuse but still not going to sent us to the wall , then u can bring through the kids with experience players leading the way . If we continue to stick with this we are only paying x we have no hope .

I'm 100% not sure but as far as I am aware a verbal agreement to terminate is enough too;

I would suggest this is the case as well. His manager requested a release.

Anyway let's see how this progresses over the next couple of weeks. I'm not a betting man but I'd bet good money that this is already over and it's not our problem.

I’d be telling the Cows take LL now or November 1 your choice.

I wouldn't tell them anything. If I was asked I'd laugh and say we released him as per his request and reading between the lines it sounds like the Cowboys and/or his manager stuffed up because they can't register his contract.

You then laugh and say something like "not all clubs and agents are professional in their approach unlike our club".

Only problem is it sounds like we’d still need to pay him if the reports are true. Like you said, see what happens. I have a feeling it’s a storm in a teacup this one.

Because it is a unique situation? Name the last time a player asked for a release 3x, it’s mid season, jumping from a sinking ship into a serious finals team, from a club who just sacked their coach, with an international rep game coming up, 2 weeks before June 30.

It’s all speculation though. Silence from the club could be a good or bad thing. I just hope the NRL back the club rather than throwing us under the bus like they usually do. I hope we are finally showing some backbone rather than just being incompetent.

I have heard there are formal rules around announcements when players transfer between clubs. See what happens.

Why is the media going off about all this as if Wests Tigers have totally stuffed this up?

Could be because we usually have, but in this case I truly hope we haven't and it is finally acknowledged that we are the ones in the right.

The thing that makes me nervous is the lack of commentary from the club, you would think if we were 100% correct and above board in all this that we would be hearing more than just crickets.

IMHO, even if we keep Tamou, we need 2 props, and if he retires we need 3 new props, and even than we would have no depth. I consider Twal and Seifart sub NRL standard, and they would struggle to play as props in all NRL teams. We may consider swapping them for aggressive, impact players.
I agree that we need at least 2 new 2nd rowers, as we have only Blare and Papalii, again no depth.
Re canters, Doueihi and Naden would be my 1st choice, with Kapoa and To'a as wings or depth centres.

Twal is a first grader, he just needs some more dynamic teammates. Every club needs a Twal.

Let's just hope the paperwork & amount between Lucy manager and us was agreed & more importantly signed.

If it hasn't been signed & we released the statement - we stuffed up.

If it was signed then nothing more to see & we all move on.

Why is it always a shit show whenver our club is involved? Every club has its drama but we are amateurs on the next level.

I just hope we don't shit on LL on the way out like we have with others. He was a good servant, he served us well during his time here.
Yeah he wasn’t as bad as others. But he wanted a bit too much for his level. Great player, awesome bloke, but not always consistent. He wanted 700 which is double factory.

I don't think we have to honour the contract if he said he wants out and signed the termination of his contract - I'm 100% not sure but as far as I am aware a verbal agreement to terminate is enough too; it's like if I tell the boss I'm leaving - they have no obligation to take me back if I change my mind.
They’re basically trying to slam us for not leaving the back door open, and/or being supposedly disrespectful by letting a player walk who was no longer mentally invested. Good luck trying to use a loaded gun on WT supporters, Paul Kent.

They seriously venture close to defamation sometimes

This would never happen. I quit my job and it took at least a couple of weeks for the figures to be clarified. Has anyone here ever quit their job and their company has given them a proper pay out figure on that day ? It'd have to be a pretty simple cash in hand type job with no holiday or other leave and no super payments etc.

I didn't sign anything.

You quit as of a certain date and you get all your owed salary up to that point paid out.

I really think some people aren't viewing this accurately at all. This is someone quitting their job.

If there was some trade deal that is different. This is the area where we as fans could think the club stuffed up. I think we stuffed up releasing him without a trade deal in place but it's not a big deal.

Does anyone here work in HR ? It just seems the criticism of the club in this instance is at crazy levels of stupidity.

I could be missing something because I'm not an expert but no one on here has provided any sort of factual information and posts like yours don't appear to correlate with the reality of HR practices/ contract law in a corporate environment.

You’d be winning too, mate

We need heaps of depth. I wouldn't let Twal or Seyfarth go. The problem is that we don't have any impact type props.

I'm less worried about our backline and even the spine.

We need forwards desperately.
