Luciano Leilua

Important question.

The written contract Lucy and club signed Is likely to have a provision that it can be amended or varied by consent or agreement, at a later time, but usually, that clause would insist on the variation being in in writing before and prior to it coming into effect.

Contracts can be verbal but also need to meet other legal requirements.

But also, the contract is going to have a clause that allows the club to release a player whether the player likes it or not and that’s how clubs can sack players without the players consent.

I suppose these circumstances would be listed, but maybe not.

There could be a provision in the contract that protects the players in such instances, but until we see it, we don’t know.

I think these contracts are registered with the NRL who have an interest.

But any talk of the cows having an interest, well, that would have had to have been created more recently contractually, because Lucy was not on their radar when he first signed.

That’s theoretically possible, but very unlikely.

They either stuffed up their numbers or are trying to have a lend holds more practical promise as a theory.
what,so no new light does shine yet
A reasonably accurate portrait of these matters as they appear to be at this juncture, correct.

And I ask you Sir, who is brave and courageous enough to proffer a view to the contrary?

360!
I

The way it was explained on 360 is, Luc says to WT he’d like a release to take up a deal with NQ (the condition).

The Tigers agree to the release and announce it (too soon)

The deal with NQ is now the sticking point. Cap/terms etc.

If true, no idea why we rushed the announcement?? Not surprised but.
I understand what you are saying but it still doesn't make sense. So what were the Tigers meant to say - Ok LL no problem - we will just keep you on the books until the cows are ready - you just give us yell when they are ready to go. Oh and by the way were they ready the last 2 times they wanted us to release you early. 360 just make it up on the run.

A contract can be verbal and Luciano will probably claim that his release request was subject to the condition that NQ sign him for the remainder of the year.
They can't sign him until he is released. Maybe we should have a go at them for contract tampering if they were going to sign him up before we released him.

Possibly, no inside info on this. But the Cows are standing firm publicly which makes me believe it could be true. I can see a scenario where Luc’s manager phones Sheens and says “will u release Luc if we do a deal with NQ?” Sheens jumps at the chance to chop 200K off the wages bill because we are cooked and then the media area simply jump the gun.

All pure speculation but nothing would surprise me.

we are all wasting our time,on speculation,im going back2 Lucky Looks thread

NQ is not a party to our contract with Lucy and it beggars belief we would expose ourselves to this risk.

Lee and his team know more about this than the castle lawyer NQ hired from the Solomons.

“The conditions, get the vibe of it your honour, then we come up $300k short, innocent my lordship pleads as the court constitution says and that’s what Lucy’s will says”

And the way things are right now, Lee under pressure anyway, he’s not going to wear it.

The player contract is between Lucy and us. NQ are not a party to that. They duped Lucy.

As nobody wants him, he should head off to the knights!

He must be feeling like BJ tonight.

I’m sure our learned Chair will fill everyone in on SEN. hopefully the members tune in and the fans can please themselves.

Kids won’t learn anything in a tanking side though? We are between a rock and a hard place.
Exactly wrong attitude!

Do you forget Cronulla? They were coming dead set last, nr16.
They interviewed Anthony Tuopu? (may have the name wrong, some cronulla forward), he said he was loving playing there. why?
They were training hard.
They were focused on their own game and improving themselves.
The culture was great.

Next year Ricky leaves, Flanagan drives up a Gym brought at a firesale in melbourne. Luke Lewis and Ben Barba and half the West Tigers join.... They make the finals.

We have seen Easts come out of a similar rut with Fittler.

Our culture has a problem. We want people who will play for our club. Heck our club has shown a stack more loyalty then Easts, Storm, etc. We need to build our skills and our culture.

Surely both parties got a signed release of LLs contract before it was formallyannounced(Footy Management 101)...and if not, somebody at the club is culpable. If its a Pascoe screw up yet again....!
LLs Manager appears to have let him down in formalising terms with his new employer
Its that simple in most businesses.
..and btw, what a great start with yr new employer to be screwed over b4 you start!!

Awesome. This makes sense. This is how I've resigned in the past. You tell them you are quitting and then they say great decision see you later. You get paid out your benefits. I quit recently and got paid out twice. No joke. They paid me too little the first time and then paid me extra. I had no idea that I was underpaid the first time.

So maybe Luc hasn't provided his resignation letter.

Maybe he wants to stay.

It sounds more and more like a Seinfeld episode.
Just waiting for Lee the Soup Nazi to come into play.

The NRL ratifies contracts, cowboys say can't do then lucy stays on our books, wr jumped the gun before everything was official, we have to honour that previous contract, only avenue is to sue cowboys for being dummies 😏
I don't think we have to honour the contract if he said he wants out and signed the termination of his contract - I'm 100% not sure but as far as I am aware a verbal agreement to terminate is enough too; it's like if I tell the boss I'm leaving - they have no obligation to take me back if I change my mind.

You'd think it is all in the terminology. Gadget has been very careful on radio in the past to talk about how he won't guarantee this and that due to the legal ramifications of the word "Guarantee".
In this instance with WT statement, they have said LL was GRANTED a release. Clearly indicates it was asked for and given as opposed to Madge, who was "terminated".

Having said all that, if anyone could stuff it up, there is no doubt it would be our organisation.

I seriously don't see how this is our stuff up? If Luc asked for the release and we granted it, effectively our contract has been voided as per his request. What he has or hasn't got lined up after is not our problem?

How is it we have jumped the gun when clearly someone from the cowboys was telling his manager to do it?

Love your thinking. What would you propose?

Who is our Luke Lewis, Gallen, Wade Graham? They mentored those kids. I don’t see it here. We have a chirpy halfback, that’s about it.
