If there are people out there still thinking Kimmorley is a chance to take the FG coach full time they are kidding themselves.. Just go watch his press conference as he doesn't sound confident at all and in fact comes across negative and too busy pumping up the Dogs.. FFS we are chasing a coach like CC and we are praising Dogs (Our competitor) which IMO doesn't look good.
One thing I can say about Madge is he always stuck up for the team and didn't make excuses in the public eye and I suppose that just comes with experience.

Lets be honest if Sheen's can somehow pull this off and get CC it would be his biggest win outside the GF in 2005. This has to be the lowest point we have been in the 10 years and it's so disappointing

Madge couldn’t do anything in the first 2 years due to cap issues and there wasn’t a lot of options last year and this and we are still paying Mbye. Madge had them playing above their ability all the years he was here. The coach was never the issue.

You need to look at the interference and mismanagement from higher up in the organisation for the reasons of our failures of the last 11.5 years. It was never the coach.

Certain individuals and the team have actually gone backwards. Even players (rookies) with a natural propensity to grow, have not.
Forget juniors, we need top line players that will help improve them first and the players around them - plus support the team's development. But watching the WTs over the past few years would've been one of the biggest deterrents for any potential signings.

Players want to be the best and probably dream of this in their early childhood years yet they want to be at a club that is capable of taking them there and not be weighed down by responsibilities that a coach can't correct. Or looked incapable of doing.
He was not only unable to achieve any short-term initiatives (foster and develop the right performance culture, build cohesion and create a competitive brand) but also failed to manipulate any constraints (salary cap, another coaches roster) which shows a lack of innovative leadership. Mentioned it before but coaches like Hook and Payten have been effective in these areas.
Unfortunately, Madge wasn't the right coach for achieving the club's long term goals and incompatible to our plans of taking the team to the next level - which is already shown through our results.

FYI agree about that Pascoe and Lee should be kept away from recruitment.

I have to agree, today confirmed that 400k a season for holding a clipboard and applying a rich crème to Ivan’s coffee on demand is not that demanding.
Ciraldo seems a nice guy so I see him delaying the inevitable before breaking it to us.

As I stated there is no chance in hell of Ciraldo coming here, you are on hard drugs if you think he is going to be the next coach. Why would he risk his career with the wooden spoon club? Other more attractive options will present themselves in the next 12 months.

I'm concerned we are talking about cap to sign who we want (and raising hope) a couple of weeks after starting we are a development club 3 years from side. Conflicting messaging.

I like the idea of the Walker Bros @tigeress with their "unorthodox" exciting brand of football.
But I wonder how much different the Walker Bros unorthodox style is to the unorthodox Sheenius style....ie doesn't matter how many points they score we'll score more.
And if Noddy is appointed our coach next year, Sheens would have to have a big influence on him.

No they have a ordinary record other than the one good year. NRL is a different beast. Wouldn't work.

Whilst history has shown that great players don't always make great coaches just thinking outside the box but maybe offer a dual coaching role to Billy Slater and Cameron Smith or Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk?

Both combinations know the modern game, proven winners, great footy IQ, darlings in the media (we need more media friends) and the main reason would attract players to come to WT.

Sorry I know the above is a dream but need to find hope somewhere.

I just can't see how Ciraldo could turn us around and I can't see him being a magnet to attract quality players. Not even Bellamy could turn our current side around.

This a club issue - not a Maguire issue. We havnt been able to build a decent squad since Sheens started the first rebuild.
The perception of failure sits at the hands of club and our inability to attract players that all other clubs seem to be able to do no matter who the coach is.

Look at the Broncs last year, lots of talented young players with potential.

What was the strategy after having the oldest roster in the comp?
Start to sign the best 19-20 year olds on the cusp but not getting game time at their clubs.
Fair plan right?
Well for an attractive club it might be.
But you’ve got to remember we didn’t sign the best young players from these other clubs we signed their best rejects.
This is because the best young players stayed at their clubs.

Douehi. Latrell was signed to play fullback instead, Campbell Graham preferred as Centre.
Simpkin. Corey Paix who was a halfback at the time was preferred as backup hooker.
Kepoa. Tuipalotu was preferred then later signed with Manly.
To’a. Best preferred, Tuala and Young recruited.
Tulagi. 22 years old playing Melbournes reserves yet to debut.
Musgrove. Out of the game on DV charges. No contract.
Lauri. Edwards and Stains preferred.
Blore. Martin, Leinu, Burns preferred. Burns later released to St George.
Simpkins. Well we know the young talent on show at the cowboys. Wonder why we didn’t grab, Luki, Nanai, Neme, Condon, Gilbert instead?
As you can see both Hartigan and Madge’s hands were tied with trying to attract anyone to this undesirable club.
