Because Brooks hasn’t been dropped in 8 or 9 years. What are the chances that he’s magically going to be dropped next game of all games after the story was leaked. It would be one hell of a coincidence

Put him on back ended ridiculous contract with by reports 900 k this year and $1.1 mill next year .Was this only Madge ? Or did Pascoe have his hands on this also .If he did he should be gone also .No one is going to pay anywhere near that and we could be paying over500k to have him play against us .if that's the case still a good idea

2 potentially bad options-

Backloading contracts
Paying players to play elsewhere

Risky on their own, catastrophic when mixed.

We routinely play with fire by paying the wrong guys too much for too long, and then being gutless about performance leaving us with with no good options. Grin and bear it, or take a massive hit.

I'm sure that Pascoe came out and said we would be much more careful with backloading after fixing the first Sheens inspired mess - which took years. In fact, our (and Bulldog Des') incompetence was so great that there were articles stating the NRL had changed rules relating to these contracts, essentially to protect clubs from themselves.

If there is a leak, they can weed them out by giving key staff & board members with different info & see what makes it to the media.
