Junior Reps 2022

Bit of a showdown in the Schoolboys Semi today...Miller, Mason and Fisher up against Lauilili, Saukuru and Da Silva.

Then in the other game, Faagutu against Alex Conti and Lipina Ata.

Apparently Alex Isdale was man of the match in the Under 15s match yesterday too. We must have pinched him from Parra....I read some stuff thay he was contracted there, but the club released his name as one of our players representing.

Hopefully we have some talent scouts out and about at the carnival to see any other exceptional talents worth approaching in the coming years (even if they are currently under contract).

Yes, Alex Isdale is with us. As is Ali Karnib.

Both listed as with Parramatta in the recent Top 50 U/15's players list by Daily Telegraph but we've got them both.

Chris Faagutu was very good against CIS, it is frustrating watching him continually being played tight it was the same in the Mal Meninga Cup,it would be great to see him as a ball playing 13 or wide running back rower where he excels. He will be a first grader within 2 years.

Has he been starting or coming off the bench? Will be good to see him in Tigers colours next year!

NSW CIS 15's won their semi in Golden Point over QLD and are into the GF. This has the Large brothers, PJ French and Heamasi Makasini contracted to us. Makasini was named man of the match.

Seems to be really good representation from our boys in both age divisions (a few man of match performances thus far too).

interested to see how he performs next year in Ball and Flegg. very hopeful he can make a similar transition to Matamua. by all reports he has talent in droves.

It is good that our representation has improved and also the quality of our recruits. Go WTs.

And another man of the match for one of our boys....Ali Karnib in Under 15's NSW CHS 20 to 16 win over NSW CCC.

Backs up what has been said by many in the organisation about our current crop of juniors coming through being some of the best they have seen. Still a long way to go to make it to the big time (and a lot won't get there), but the more guns you have in your system, the better chance of at least some making an impact at higher levels!

ASSRL Championships: Talented teens giving Wests Tigers glimpse of the future

A young gun with a Benji Marshall-like step headlines the long line of next generation Wests Tigers that are on show at the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League National Championships in Redcliffe this week.

Wests Tigers have battled for success for a decade but hope is now at hand as 13 teenagers from the club take part in the rugby league carnival at Moreton Daily Stadium.

And leading the list is a Marshall-like attacking whiz named Onitoni Large.

A 14-year-old from The Scots College, Large was again a standout as NSW CIS beat Queensland in semi-final thriller.

The Tigers are one of the best represented clubs at the under-15s and 18s titles, a mark of the headway they have made with their pathways programs in recent years.

Tigers talent scouts Troy Weeden and Shannon Gallant have been among the throng of club officials and agents who have descended on Redcliffe over the past week to monitor generation next.

No doubt, they liked what they saw from the club’s contingent of emerging stars, led by Large and under-18s prop Jordan Miller.

Miller was named man-of-the-match for NSW Combined Catholic Colleges in their semi-final loss to NSW Combined High Schools on Tuesday.

The powerful frontrower couldn’t get his side across the line as they lost to an outfit that included three of the Tigers’ best and brightest — Tallyn Da Silva, Solomon Saukuru and Kit Laulilii.

Large and his brother Ashton have been exceptional in the under-15 ranks.

Ashton, at 13, is yet to sign with an agent or a club because of his age. The Tigers are working overtime to ensure he commits to them when the time arrives.

It's a start. These are the players Sheens are talking about when he says it will take 3 years for them to be competitive for us in the big league.

We need to retain them, and build a squad of players that can help bring the best out of these youngsters

Was that Miller posed up with the Broncos guy and a Broncos shirt in his hand?

Yes.

I assume Man of the Match just gets a pack from whichever NRL club representative is there.

There’s photos of Fita Hala (Wests Tigers Talent Identifier) with kids not from our junior system who got MOM.

Thank god for that - big kid…
Hope him and his old man burn that broncos shirt when he got it home…

Is not playing colts or club maybe he will head down on weekends like a few of the Roosters & Manly lads or he could be focusing on school.
