Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Toa is talented but very lazy. Comes up with non efforts regularly. Where was he when Garner was in the clear on Sunday? The left centre should have been off his hip. He should be in reserve grade until he shows he can work off the ball.
Agree he goes missing a lot …. but you just need to coach that out of him.
With Talau busted, Naden suspended, Gildard, Roberts and Peach on their last legs with the club and no one else pushing from lower grades …. I’m afraid he may be one of last few backs standing along with young Tupou and Kepaoa.

You guys didn't get it. The point is that stating Hastings and Doueihi could be our best halves combination in ages isn't stating anything. We haven't had a good set of halves in donkey years which I think is a long time.

Clearly it was a stupid joke because no one got it.

If Hastings and Doueihi can't earn the halves spot and clearly be the best halves combination we've had in years we need to develop or buy some different players.

I've been stating for ages Hastings and Doueihi are our best halves combination but I expected them to go out and prove it. I still think Hastings is the best 7 we've got. It's up to Doueihi to prove he is good enough to get the 6 spot rather than have a sook about it.

For the magpies, right ?

That would be a gun pairing in reserves. I like them both but as per a lot of our players they need to prove themselves by playing well.

I'll drop paying out Doueihi for having a cry. We've all been soft at times apart from @Buttface.

I have a short memory but it feels like the Broncos had one bad year , then one really bad year and bounced back to be competitive this year even when Reynolds is off the park. Pisses me off something royal...

I don't see why we can't turn it around next season and stuff it be on top for the next 40 years. They can go back to being useless when I'm dead.

Agree with your comments …
Whilst on that question I would just add that from what I watched so far from Madden I can just see glimpses of something there.
This is the first year that he has had a taste of first grade and he hasn’t been a standout but I just have a feeling that in longer term …. we may regret if we released him.

I agree. There is something there. I see a mix of Reynolds and Townsend in him.

I reckon you could work with Madden as well. He is the youngest out of the lot of them as well plus I think he is a game controlling half.

I rate Hastings higher than Madden but I'm really surprised Madden hasn't been picked up by another club.

Broncos were in similar position at the end of last year.
They we’re ruthless and cut players that many thought were essentials on their roster.
But in reality they just got rid of their problems and now …. Just judge for yourself how that is panning out.
Hopefully we can get on the same trajectory.
The big difference with the Broncos compared to us is that they had a heap of talent to work with that made that possible, and recruited well to replace those they moved on. They are a club that attracts players, we dont.

When you strip rugby league right back it is an invasion game. Two groups of men trying to invade the territory of each other.

How you invade the territory is the art of coaching but really it is to first create space and then move into that space.

Good teams normally create that space with strong, powerful players, whether it be outside backs or forwards, creating momentum before the creative spine players detect the weaknesses and invade those weak points in the defense.

To sit here and critique the creative spine players you need to first be comfortable that the momentum is being created and the weaknesses actually exist.

This probably sounds like crazy talk but it’s coaching 101. To bring this back to signings, there’s no point even discussing our halves until we sign a decent forward pack.

Think Madden sees himself in the starting team, and hes not there yet

Interestingly Doeuhi has a 61.5% win rate at centre in 13 games. He has 8 tries, 8 line breaks, 37 tackle busts, 2 try assists and 11 offloads.

At five eight he has 35.7% win rate in 14 games but he does have 14 try assists and 16 line break assists and 5 tries and 36 tackle breaks, 17 offloads.

So I wluld suggest he plays better at five eight but he is a good centre and his teams play better with him at centre perhaps.

Interestingly his fullback record at 44.8% win rate from 29 games, with only 4 tries but ave 147 run meters 9 try assists, 15 line breaks and 8 line break assists and plenty of tackle busts.

Personally id have him at five eight moving forward and let Brooks go but with our current squad and availability o probably suggest centre is his best spot for us.

Anyway the real issue is our forwards arw rubbish and until we fix that who is in the halves means bugger all

Facts will serve you no purpose here my friend.

That must explain why the Russians and Germans are so good at rugby league.

Ive said it before - I d have him back at Fullback… at least we’ll have some communication back there unlike when park footy is there - and we’ll get some meters on kick return
