Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

For one year.

We did it this year with Mbye...
Albeit a few 100k less though.
Yea I guess bite the bullet clear the decks and move on but this type of scenario has happened so many times how on earth does admin survive year after year?

Player power at our club since the mid 2000's has been out of control....
Man - I enjoyed winning the comp that time, But far out it's cost us some since.
Imagine if we didn’t have that comp. How much more bleak would the last 20 years look.

if Newcastle know we are desperate to offload Brooks they could simply offer $300k
We either take it or we don't, so if Brooks is on 1.1 million then it will cost wests tigers 800k
that does not make good salary cap sense
keep him in reserves for 2023 you never know Hastings gets injured or Douhie we will need him
2024 Brooks is off the books anyway

Brooks would be a good buy for a side with a decent forward pack, speedy backs , and a decent coach and administration. He has not had any of these at the Tigers. He's been the whipping boy for many forum members for ages. AD is probably on close to $700,000 and not performed as well, Hastings is not a world beater. our FB is ordinary, same for the 9. No wonder he can;t perform as expected. Townsend and others were in the same boat, but a move to a decent club has reinj uvinated their football. I hope he leaves , for his sake, he is not playing to his potential , but he has been let down by this sham of a club and has lost his mojo.

Whoever gave Brooks this crazy contract and whoever signed off on it has screwed us . Madge is gone but someone must have approved it .Pascoe?

Mate - don't even worry about it. We've had heaps worse. We are struggling to spend our cap and he has one year left.

Just make the best decision for the club.

I used to think make the best decision for the club and Brooks but he is starting to come across as another peanut. So stuff him. If it suits us to play him in reserve grade do it.

Exactly. Just make the right decision for the club. Who cares if he plays reserves. Stuff him. Let him and his manager work something out that works for us.

Brooks puts in as well. It's just that he can't execute well enough consistently.

I agree with your post but not this part. Brooks performance is all on himself. No more excuses for players apart from when I excuse Hastings for the last couple of weeks.

We aren't a sham of the club. We are the best club in the universe.

Exactly..... We have to fill his spot in the roster (With the same positional player) - Even a kid will cost you 110k...
If we're paying Brooks 500k to play elsewhere, plus 110k+ for a potential roster replacement... Better just to keep him in ressies.

Don't worry, Someone will need him - Or he'll want to go enough that we get a much better deal out of it.

Best way to get top money when selling something - Is to not be desperate to sell it....

We've got a squillion dollars to spend next year - Including Brooks money factored in.... Hold out!! Be smart - For the love of god, Just once!!

Geez your asking a bit much for our club to Be smart. The media will paint WT in a bad light which ever way it goes.

Adam Doueihi is privately gutted that he’s been portrayed as a big head for suggesting to Wests Tigers interim coach Brett Kimmorley to play five-eighth in NSW Cup instead of at centre in the NRL team.

Doueihi is only two games back from an ACL knee injury that he suffered last year and he has so far played both games off the bench.

He has now been selected in the centres for Saturday’s match against Parramatta with Luke Brooks remaining five-eighth and Jackson Hastings at halfback.

Doueihi made the point to Kimmorley in a private chat that he believed it would be in both his and the team’s best interests if he could get more game time in NSW Cup where he could play the full game at five-eighth instead of constantly switching between positions.

But that conversation somehow found its way into the media.

It comes after Brooks also hit out at leaks within the club, while agreeing Doueihi’s best position was five-eighth.

But Doueihi has since copped it from some fans and even Tigers legend Steve Roach who took exception to Doueihi supposedly wanting to dictate which position he would play.

“Can you imagine a bloke saying he wants to play a position when he’s just a player, the inmates are running the asylum,” Roach told Fox Sports.

“If Bob Fulton, Jack Gibson or Warren Ryan are running that club, you wouldn’t be telling them where you were going to play.”

There is no suggestion Doueihi, who is off contract at the end of 2023, is angling for a release and wants out from the Tigers.

But it’s more than fair to say Doueihi is upset over the fallout, and that he has somehow been portrayed as arrogant and selfish.

Doueihi is widely regarded as one of the most humble and decent young men in the game and he’s never previously had a bad word written about him.

He was also the Tigers best player before his injury last year, and it is no secret that his preferred position is five-eighth.

While Doueihi is off contract at the end of next season, he has no intention of testing the market at this point.

But you can bet this latest drama will have clubs circling.

The trouble for the Tigers is that both Brooks and Hastings are also signed for next season, so someone is going to have to play out of position if all three remain at the club.

There has been suggestions the Tigers might consider releasing Brooks if another club was to come knocking.

But given Brooks is reportedly on a massive $1 million-plus deal next year his value is not going to go up if he is dropped to NSW Cup.

That is only going to make it harder for Doueihi to win back his NRL five-eighth spot.

There was talk this week that the Tigers were considering playing Doueihi and Brooks in the halves and moving Hastings to lock but that never eventuated.
