I don't understand either (Sheens or Moses).
This whole Sheens coaching thing is getting plain scary.
I'm cursed with a couple of traits that unfortunately don't serve me well with fitting in these days: a good memory and loyalty.
I'll preface this by emphasising that these three are club legends and if I were to ever meet them in the street I'd love to shake their hand and thank them for all the great memories they gave me. At the end of the day, they are people and my opinions are only about them as a coach or player - I believe I have no right to judge anyone as a person.
So. My opinion.
I've always said this about these three people:
1. Sheens in the end was awful as coach. He simply named the same 17 players every week; the only interesting part of Tuesday afternoons was seeing which position those 17 were playing that week.
2. Farah for a large part of his days as a tiger was selfish. Maybe he thought he was the only one who could get it done, but he was all about RF. For the captain of an NRL side to have "SOO" in bold marker pen on his wrist wrapping during a game I thought was incredibly self centred and showed his true motivation for playing well.
(Told you I've got a good memory 🤣).
3. Marshall seems like a great guy, but before he left the tigers he was infamous for his no look passes to the 5th row and kicking it dead. He killed so many attacking sets on the 3rd and 4th tackle it was infuriating!
Credit to him, he was a far better player in his later years when he'd matured, so hopefully that is his style of input now.
I can't stand Flanagan. I don't care about the peptides thing - he's done his time - but I just don't like him! Must be the whole Cronulla, Gallen thing...
If it were up to me, I'd throw the chequebook at Cooper Cronk. To me, he looks to have all the attributes of a future coaching great.
I think get him asap, give him carte blanche over the squad and play style and sit back and wait for success.
Spot on - All of it…
Sheens was more often than not carried away with his own image of himself in most of his years here… playing reserve grade centres at prop - playing galea at hooker - fitzy everywhere…
And the club - It was very much All about Robbie - Benji isn’t much different…
The club was built around them - they loved it, not real sustainable… and we simply can’t get rid of them - Benji wont take his kid out of the field in his last game, gives away the game ball - wont wear club gear and throws the club under the bus for not giving him a gimme contract - less than 18 months later, he’s back - telling all his media mates he wants to be the coach.
I took his media comments to imply that he can’t afford to be an assistant coach - but a head coach is enough money for him…
Funny I saw Farah ragging on Brooks for a shit kick on the weekend and was reminded of his shitty dumb kick to Boyd in the dragons semi….
Happens to the best of them Robbie.
Now he’s in the coaches box…. WTF!!
Nothing spoken about at the moment has any upside… if we think no finals for 10 years is a hoot - wait till we give the head coaching role to the rep player that couldn’t get us to finals in most of those 10 years…
It will be 20 before we know it…
People who say sheens, Benji and Robbie will attract high caliber players… how?
They couldn’t attract them 10 years ago - no one wanted to play with them then, why would players come here now?
