Wests Tigers Coaches

I don't buy that you can classify coaches in that sense. They either have access to talent or they don't and if the talent chooses to play elsewhere the youngsters you bring through will continue to struggle..

Of course u can.

It's more about the clubs strategic approach. Some clubs have a strategy to start developing from 13 to 15 up like Canberra and we doing now

Some clubs go a little older like Melbourne and Roosters start poaching players from SG ball and Flegg age

Some clubs just poach first graders like Gold Coast.

The coach should fit your strategy.

The only time we've ever had any success has been with Sheens at the helm. We've apparently been turned down by all and sundry the only move left on the chess board might be Sheens grooming the heir apparent Farah or Marshall or both.

You cant tell me Sheens isnt a better option than some assistant somewhere that has zero experience. I do get the trepidation of some but can you really blame the club for wanting to go back to the well?

I'll admit it was dumb as dogshit to not have someone lined up before Madge was sacked, it was also dumb to be so public with our intensions. But we have backed ourselves into a corner things need to be resolved ASAP.
It does need to be resolved but if Sheens is the only answer they can come up with, the board needs to resign en masse. What a pack of clueless flogs.

It all comes back to available talent young or old and if you can't recruit or retain them - something we havnt been able to do - then we wont compete. Whether Sheens is able to change that with his many hats is a tall order and if he can all power to him - as it seems exactly what the club has entrusted to him.

Like matty Johns said. He said most coaches come in with a 5 year plan but most coaches have no idea has to implement the plan and not up to it.

Said sheens actually does has has the runs on the board to prove it

So if Sheens does become head coach, who becomes head of football and essentially Sheens' boss?

Or maybe Pascoe is going to say how much money he's saved by having Sheens do both jobs at 71.

Just went and actually listened to her comments after seeing the tweet I posted above and she said......"can confirm this news did not come from the club so not going with it 100%, but got a phone call late last night and hearing that Tim Sheens has agreed to terms with the Tigers over a 2 year period...".
Bet she is lying - i reckon she read it on here. WTF always first with Wests Tigers latest debacle.

Of course you can, some guys work well at improving players, upskilling them. Others are better with players already at a high level and are stronger tactically etc.
All comes back to talent available to you. You can give coaches as many labels as you like but if they can't attract the talent available that other coaches have access to - no matter what category they fall under - the team and coach will struggle.
All coaches have support systems around them to address the upskilling of players they don't do it alone. We have a club issue and if Sheens can change that what ever label he falls under then great.

Would take peppy Flanagan everyday of the week before Sheens. Nothing to do with ability, but the whole way this saga has been handled reeks of dirty tricks. It just did not happen. From the day CC said no, this has been well planned with plenty of leaks to the media and the gathering of past players who support the move, to set the scene and try and build some credibility. Of course it may have started before CC said no.

The media will love it and talk about the second coming and fairytales . Also the club and Sheen’s spin on it will be a great read, a man going beyond his line of duty to help the club in a dark place. The presso with Justin, Lee and Shifty can’t wait

Probably Noddy. If we follow recent history, because Sheens started as head of pathways and was replaced by Noddy. The part I find hard to compartmentalise is that Sheens’ demotion will probably earn him a significant pay rise? 🤔

Look at it the other way, he will have Cayless, Gardiner, Robbie and Benji providing assistance. Delegate roles and develop the assistants for succession planning. Get the second COE online at UWS.

Futher bring back the style of football which WTs were renowned for under Sheens. Bring through our young players, let other see the improvements so players want to come to the club.

I used to believe many of our problems were because of a 50-50 split on the board Balmain/Magpies but since Balmain lost their 50% due to stupidity that no longer applies. The problem with that is the issues at the club seem to have got worse not better since the magpies have control. Our administration as a club is beyond adequate description it is that poor.
Maybe private ownership is the way to go (no to anything Elias is connected with) because things could not be any worse
I’m not sure if it’s structure over the failings or shortcomings of individual actors.

And logically, we don’t know if a Balmain half or dominated regime would have fared any better.

I’m an unabashed club federalist, the Union is sacred and makes us stronger.

But I’m in complete agreement with you as to the unsatisfactory state of affairs.

And I’m not anti-Tim per se, but here we are, another detour off the plan laid out. Off on another frolic.

All of those people were at the club at the start of the year.
But we have one of the best footballing brains now in charge. Sheens is an innovator, a scholar of the game. No doubt delegation of roles will play an important role moving forward as will development of the assistants so one can take on the head coaching role.
