Wests Tigers Coaches

I wonder who had the idea that we needed a coach with a lack of experience?
I hope it works, I really do want this dream job not to turn into another nightmare, but it does look like we’re taking a huge leap of faith after we found coaches were just as hard to sign as players.
Stay tuned for the next episode of Tiger Town B.E.N.J.I, Benji was his name..😂

Got to give it to Benji. No one achieved anything in life by not backing themselves. He might fail miserably - good men have before him - but it takes courage to take the toughest job on in the game and more so in his case when he doesnt need to.
It's either going to be best thing that ever happened for the club or the opportunity for plenty to say I told you so if it fails. I'm an unashamed fan and have everything crossed that it works.

It's not like that though...

Sheens is the coach and he doesn't lack any experience at all.

Benji is the protege who has stated he's spent the last 5 years in more of a coaching role than playing role which we have seen, at our club and others - doing more mentoring.

He went from flick pass Benji to the controlling The Game Benji towards the end of his career.

He's worked under Sheens, Bennett & Maguire - all premiership winning coaches. He said he knows what to do and he's seen it first hand from the best.

Furthermore, 2 years as an assistant before taking over the bosses chair....

To say no experience is an easy one but it's not the truth and won't be the truth.

I meant lack of experience as a head coach, Benji hasn’t had the same level of experience as Ciraldo. Which leads to my question..how did we know we didn’t want an experienced coach with proven results? If we knew the answer to that question we may also understand why it was so imperative to sack Maguire?

I haven't watched a game for a long time this year but this news has me interested in watching again 🙂 Happy. So happy not to have meat head coach like flanagan. Yay. I think we will see improvement in 2023 and more in 2024 than all the years under Maguire which slowly but surely went backwards. Quote me on it. It will happen. There was no reason for me to watch the games this year, and I haven't, now there is, that's awesome enough for me. There is an interest again.

An important piece to the puzzle will be the other EXPERIENCED assistant/s with Benji & Robbie.

David Furner?
What happens to Nathan Cayless & Ben Gardiner?
How about a Wests homecoming for Steve Georgallis (from Cowboys)?

Looks like Benji is doing the two year TAFE course rather than four year degree, than masters and than honours degree most coaches take to get a top job.

Still can’t believe the club is going down this road, must be so demoralising for all the assistant coaches we have on the payroll who are doing the hard yards only to see Benji leap frog them. You look at a bloke like Wayne Larkins who has served a long and successful apprenticeship . Anyway I guess this is all about the brand name Benji, and the club is hoping it will attract players to the club and inspire the pathway kids. There is a chance it will work, but Benji is taking a massive short cut and the last thing you want in a football club is short cuts.

The Ending to our long drawn out coaching saga had all the twists and turns of a season ending episode of home and away, that could only be scripted by someone with a sense of imagination and little sense of reality

LOL I used to think toxic masculinity was a thing that inferior people made up to feel better about themselves . But as I get older I realise I was totally wrong . Guys like you are what they’re talking about .
As for the bully comment . The fact you make out like someone who was bullied is inferior , is all I need to know about how low of a bloke you are .
But I’m going to let you in on a little advice I give my 8 year old . There’s always someone bigger and tougher than you are , and likewise you being bigger and tougher than someone else . But the thing is you never know which one you are until it’s too late .
My son was bullied at school by a kid 3 years above and much bigger
The bully didn't know my son had been boxing training for a few years
My son followed the bully on the bus... Got off at the same stop and then taught him a lesson
Unfortunately the bully's dad was a cop, complained to the school.. My son copped a weeks suspension but he was never bullied again.
Bullying ain't cool or in anyway positive and some poor kids end up with tragic outcomes over it. 😢

I was actually impressed by Benji tonight on NRL 360.
He carries himself well and is passionate.
He also has a lot of energy and want the tigers to succeed. Good luck to him.
Exactly, regardless of what that flea maguire did to him, he loves the tigers and wants us to succeed let's all get behind him and sheensy

At least he’s got more balls than that CC , who only wants to leave the best and go to the next best .

Love it!
We’ve gone from offering a professional assistant coach with limited first grade experience a 5 year deal to offering a no experience coach a 5 year deal.
Development indead
. . . . Needa, mate I don't know if you intended the typo I've bolded, in fact I don't even care . . . it's that good.
Trailblazing pioneer of this whole topic. 9/10
