Hastings lock

Not saying much I know, but Hastings ran past Jennings as if he was standing still. Early in the game when the foot wasn’t as much an issue, maybe?
I don’t feel Hastings is a slow runner.
He just has no acceleration, no footwork, essentially anything you can think of you’d like a half to have to threaten a game.
Might as well play Drew Hutchinson. At least he can kick a ball.

Can he point as well as Hastings though?

Hastings lock is not the key
🔐 😉

Jackson Hastings led the Tigers in touches (66), runs (24) and tackles (41) and finished behind only Joe Ofahengaue in running metres (161m).
Yep his stats do not lie, he has proven his ability to cover the 3 positions he has played for us, if brooks had his stats we would be a happy bunch. And ofehengaue does his job well to.

Well we ended up falling down a rabbit hole of old Tigers videos on YouTube (cheers Bonstonker). And comparing Brooks from his early days to now and they're two different players. Some of the grubber kicks he'd put in or cross field bombs were brilliant and he scored a lot of long distance effort trys. Like trapping a grubber or rushing for a loose ball. And it's like you don't forget how to kick or compete for a ball. I really think he's got no lust for playing st the Tigers. He's lost his spark and creativity and isn't making the same efforts on or off the ball as he used to. I think the kid can play, he just needs a fresh start and so do the club. Hastings isn't going to stick around to get bashed in the forwards.

A huge difference for Brooks too is what's around him. Looking at the highlights from 2010 we had options. Benji would be running across and have Ellis short, Lawrence wide or who ever was at fullback sweeping around behind him. Watching us yesterday, we have no one running lines. There's no structure in attack, no one running decoy (a term I hate as all runners should be viable passing options in any play). We genuinely look like the park footy side I played in for Katoomba, where we'd have 4 blokes show up to training then shoot up the pub. We'd have 20 blokes turn up for a game, most of which were hungover and we'd run one out and wait for someone to do something. I think Brooks is also let down by lack of genuine running options and players to support him.

It's a toxic relationship for both club and player and it's time to move on.

If noddy picks Hastings at lock again , he should be sacked on the spot , he was hopeless there , we can’t afford not having a real forward in the pack .
I would suggest he was picked there for a reason, and not just a one off. It was even mentioned by someone with inside info after the game that the club don’t see him in the halves long term.

Hastings played like a half anyway and with Douehi we have 2 half's enough of this shift everyone around and stretch the imagination to try come up with a way to keep Brooks in the half's. It doesn't work

I'll tell ya what...

He's a better hooker than Brooks.
That's for sure.

Who do you think our best options at halves are, Tradge?

Worth a shot... although Laurie has never played 7, he does have some speed.

Madden, the forgotten man.

This club has massive issues.
