He has a real chance to estaish himself over the next few weeks. If he is going to make it then this 6 weeks is career defining for him and perhaps for usThis was before Brooks' injury.
MADDEN’S IRE OF THE TIGERS
The new Wests Tigers regime of Tim Sheens and Benji Marshall are in danger of losing rising playmaker Jock Madden.
Sport Confidential can reveal Madden will quit the club if the Tigers persist with maligned Luke Brooks as their first-choice halfback alongside Adam Doueihi and Jackson Hastings at the scrumbase.
Off-contract at season’s end, Madden’s preference is to stay at the Tigers and the former Australian Schoolboys star ideally wants to be the main man in the No.7 jumper.
But if Sheens opts for the inconsistent Brooks as his chief shot-caller in 2023, then Madden will head for the Concord exits.
The 22-year-old has played 11 top-grade games since his debut last year and believes he is ready to step up as a starting halfback on a regular basis in the NRL. (Courier Mail)

agree Tamou shows more than Woods….has shown more passion for the club than Woods ever didWoods and Brown are exactly the wrong players for WTs
Both cooked, lack impact in attack or defence, and will anchor us to the bottom of the table
Just because they're ex tigers is irrelevant..they've given their best elsewhere and are now in reserve grade...for a reason
We need young large hard running forwards that will eat metres and create a go forward platform ,not superannuants
Heck,we've got a truckload of $$...aim highe
Rather Tamou for another yr than Woods, and weve got Offa/Hastings and a bunch of young guns coming thru at 13
Packolino 2.0!
Bizarre
Disappointing if trueBrown isn't coming

There are only few roster spots available for us next year. I 2024 signings from November1 is the go.There is very little available for 2023 you are basically only going to get players on the outer elsewhere, players with dud contracts or players that the team is happy to let go so they get an opportunity elsewhere.
The big action hopefully starts November 1
What is Madden waiting for...?What's he been waiting for?
They've been "persisiting" With Brooks for 20 Weeks....
Madden has been unsigned moving forward for almost a year.
New club coming in next year....
Clubs like the Dogs - Have had half a dozen halfbacks or more....
Dragons have had a few blokes at 6, Broncos as well....
won't even mention the Warriors
Seems plenty of half spots around that could be up for grabs
- Yet Madden is just hanging around hoping he can finally get his chance to dominate the NRL in the team coming last before he "Quits" the club?
Please.....
Team still hasnt updated on the NRL site - I guess there is a chance they move Hastings to 7 and bring Tumeth inHe has a real chance to estaish himself over the next few weeks. If he is going to make it then this 6 weeks is career defining for him and perhaps for us

He is a halfback!
And has never been able to play an NRL game at halfback yet... all of his games have been at 6 or from the bench coming on with 20 to go...
I believe he is actually the better old school halfback with a better kicking game... give the kid the reigns for next 6 weeks and lets just see how he goes with a real crack in the 7.

The last few weeks Brooks has looked like a centre in attack anyway… with Hastings controlling play in the middle.I would like to see Madden be given the Number 7 jersey for the rest of the season to prove himself as the main man going forward or not.
Like most on the Forum I believe Luke Brooks is a decent NRL player but not really a half back to lead a struggling club to glory. I think too many of us look at his huge contract value (not his fault) and then compare him to other million dollar players like Hunt, DCE, Ponga, etc.
Running 5/8 or is it too late to convert to a Centre. He is quick, can tackle and another kicking option if halves are caught with ball on the 5th. Has great lateral movement.
Yea there seems to be very little thought gone in to it. What if Nofo does his ACL - do Melbourne just send him back and we have to cover his rehab and contract for the length of time he is sidelined. There needs to be some guidelines covering all clubs when loaning players as to who is up for what should the unexpected occur. This lending of players is going to end in tears for the NRL eventually if they keep allowing it so late in the season
Agree re Madden. Let's see what he's got. Guarantee him the 7 for the remainder of the season, so he can chance his arm a bit/not be afraid to make a mistake.I would like to see Madden be given the Number 7 jersey for the rest of the season to prove himself as the main man going forward or not.

So Joey can help him but Sheens/Marshall/Farah can't?Agree re Madden. Let's see what he's got. Guarantee him the 7 for the remainder of the season, so he can chance his arm a bit/not be afraid to make a mistake.
I don't think Luke's salary is as high as the media makes out. There was a stage where it was increasing with each article.....Chinese Salary Whispers. Even if it's a bit higher this year, it's because he's been paid less in the years prior during this contract.
I would love to see him at a successful club. He is probably a more talented halfback than Hughes at Melbourne, just been toiling away with us, doing his best and copping grief for it. If he goes to the Knights, it'll be more of the same for him, but at least Joey can help him at training.
