Adam Doueihi #227

He is the only natural game breaker player we have.

He is a ball hog though. Toa hardly got the ball in set play and don’t think Ken had a run onto the ball outside of hitups.

Very Fittler like in the way he steps up when it matters most though but is ordinary for chunks of the game. Kinda make 10 runs and maybe 2 he breaks/half breaks the line.

Have zero doubts he will be extended the key is who plays with him.
We have been hitting th edges early all year . And it’s just been … yuck . We need to create space through the middle either the rough second phase play , or having the AD types who force the defence to jam .this is why Hastings at 13 is real key , as it means that if the edge does jam he can bypass AD and hit the fullback at pace now running at a retreating defence . Or a defence that has to scramble because of over compensation.
The ball playing lock is a blast from the past , but the future in regards to attack .

Yep ,but he needs to be patient . That’s not to say don’t get involved , but I mean patient in regards to opportunities . Stylistically he reminds me of waterboarding.
Just perpetually relentless at the line , to the point the defence makes a wrong decision and his power and acceleration, if not top end speed , slow him to create separation , which in turn creates space .
But because he’s not electric and zipping all over the field from the moment he touches the ball , it can feel and look pedestrian at times .

I don't think he looks pedestrian at all. He is a threat. See that try off the back of the scrum. Not many players can do that. I know people state he is slow but I don't see it.

The problem is his option taking can be really really poor but when he is patient and running it first he is a beast.

I like your point about him learning to just let it happen. When he kicks on the first or tries a silly pass or offload it doesn't work.

He was angry out there and at some point just hit them hard defensively and ran it hard. He made some massive plays.

I agree with a lot of sentiments in here…he often tries too hard and that causes poor footy from him.
He has skilful workhorses in the team like Joe Offa and Jacko. Let them do their thing and be patient. I reckon he is a ‘less is more’ type player. He needs to inject himself at the right moments. When he runs at the line like he did tonight and against Penrith 2 weeks back, he is unstoppable and that makes him clutch.

People calling Doueihi a hog are wrong. He usually runs because it's the best option and he has a great passing game. I don't get why so many fans see such a good runner in Doueihi, who almost always causes problems when he runs, and think he needs to pass more. He just needs to fix up his errors a bit, but the way he plays the game is perfect 5/8 play. Don't think To'a is complaining after being setup by Doueihi with that brilliant try that should have won the game last week.

I think he has been poor because he has been trying to come up with the right touch or pass or something. He needs to run first and just stop worrying about doing something fancy. He did that in the second half and took over the game.

100% agree but we also need a balance.

I do like the look of Hastings a ball playing style lock in the middle though.

Sorry I think you misunderstand . The perception that he’s pedestrian , or going through the motions . I don’t think he does either , but at times you could see how some people would be like “do something “ do you get what I mean ?

It would be hard though . Especially if , like we all are , he’s got an axe to grind and a chip on his shoulder with the nrl .
I love how Tamou in the presser admitted he blew up at the ref because of last week . God knows what he said , he must have been borderline Brandon Smith at that point. .kimmorley smiled in a “well your not wrong “ kind of way as well .
So it’s all to say , I think the club and it’s leaders have had enough with this nrl this year considering we have been royally screed by my count 3-4 times this year .
And AD is tigers through and through so he would be right there with all of us in how pissed off he is

He is a bit of a hog but that can be coached out of him. He is still very young and the difference he makes in the side is enormous! I mean he has played pretty well but the whole team has lifted since he got back

I'm a fan but has got to let the ball go. Didn't really like his first half but he is so good at pulling out a big play. Hugely important to the team.

Adam can be a game breaker in those close games , he has a very good footy brain , will enjoy Madden outside him for the next 5 weeks to see how that goes , I’m confident they pair up well long term
