I'd argue the opposite. he keeps talking about how the spine for 2025 is currently in the pathways. Koroisau's and Brooks's potential contracts both finish up at the end of 2024. I get the feeling we're going to see an entirely different spine with guys like Da Silva and Galvin there when these deals finish up.

Yeah that's kinda what I meant, we're all talking about whether brooks, madden or Hastings should be our long term halves but it seems like sheens only wants someone to fill the role for a couple of years

Sheens/Benji must see something most of us don't.

Would you ? That is a really good deal for Brooks. It may work for us as well but Brooks is going to have to minimize his mistakes.

I see the upside of Brooks. He is fast, he can thow a short ball and a long ball. He can defend. He has a decent all round kicking game. He also takes poor options regularly and doesn't have the upside that Doueihi has. Doueihi takes some terrible options and his defense can be beyond ordinary but when he runs it and gets involved he is a weapon.

I'd change "is a better option than Madden" to "maybe is a better option than Madden". I think Madden and Brooks are at pretty similar levels of ability now. Madden is a lot younger and may come on.

Pretty spot on mate, although i would probably say Brooks has one of the worst kicking games in the comp for a starting half, seems as though all 3 of our halves have problems in there game, but if Sheens and co are sticking with this crew all we can hope is they play better as a group more then individual skill, i think with our recruitment we are stuck with what we have. not sure where it leaves Madden though.

If part of that restructuring is that 500k of next years deal gets paid upfront on this year's cap then it's 600k per season off the cap next year and beyond. Also seeing that's what the Knights were willing to chip in it actually means that Brooks becomes marketable for us to shop him without costing us anything on next year's cap

I think Brooks has the best all round kicking game out of all our halves but Madden is probably really close.

Hastings is really good but doesn't have a good long kick. His short kicking game is the best in our team.
Doueihi is inconsistent and takes the wrong options but to be fair to Doueihi I just think he needs some time in the 6 position and he needs to realize how good he can be.

That could be bad for us, Sheens has this crazy idea he can fix him, might mean we pay more to keep him, just send him on his way already. If Brooks kicks on somewhere else, so be it, he has had 9 years to kick on here without success

I get what you are stating but why do that. If they wanted to get rid of him just let him go and pay that above market rate in next years cap.

And I don't rate Sheens judgement, he had Johnny Cronk and Fitzy in the halves for extended periods, he also used Lawrence, Fulton, Farah as well, I don't trust him one bit when it comes to team selection

I think so. I think they are stating Madden isn't going to be good enough but hopefully we get a junior coming through in the next 3 years.
