Mental Health Discussion

Nobody knows what anyone else might be going through at any time. Sometimes a person’s life might look perfect to others but may actually be far from it.
I guess we all need to be a little kinder to each other & be there to listen if we are needed. If you are struggling, talk about it, it isn’t a weakness, we all need each other some time.
Take care of each other.

Sorry for his tortured soul and those left behind.

I have booked in to attend the Safe Talk suicide prevention half day course through Lifeline on Monday week and encourage others to do similarly. As we never know just where those around us really sit within themselves, and our words matter.

In case you are around in any form @GNR4LIFE, I reach out to you and trust that whatever occurred is not too much for @Kul to review your eligibility on here, as despite how you come across at times, I feel that you need it in your life.

A reminder on this day to those that routinely attack/ed him and others, particularly those basically bullying in groups, that your words, especially collectively can have major consequences.

This is a terrible tragedy. If it was suicide you can only wonder how tortured he must have been to do it in his own house where he could have easily been found by his kids.
From all accounts, he must of planned it to be when his wife took the kids to school. I am taking it, she found him in the garage at 10am. How bad must he have been to do it the day after his boys birthday. Just really sad thing to happen, and these poor kids have to deal with for years to come. RIP

Well said my friend , our dear WT family member.

I was long viewing this forum before I joined and was welcomed, thank you.
While some consider others over the top on this forum , the one thing we all want to be is heard, whether wrong or right , but always for a reason.
I respect this site and it’s controls and restrictions, respect to KUL .
@GNR4LIFE for me was different, I’m nothing special, but I respect and accept apologies when a person is sincere. We all deserve a second chance and honestly I miss his take on what’s happening. His opinions
I plead and apologies on his behalf and I vouch for him.
I don’t know what was said , but non of us are angles. While I respect the decision, I’ll have the upmost respect for the powers that be , to reinstate him.
I support you to bro, you are true WESTS TIGER , PROUD MAGPIE.

RIP Greeny ...my deepest condolensces to his family and friends

Is everyone OK ....if you know someone who isn't OK or your not OK ...talk to someone ...anyone

Straight from a psychologists mouth .......7 out of 10 people who commit suicide will have a direct family member either attempt or actually commit suicide

Ask for help everyone .....please .....love to all

@PJ2

I will bring your quote here so as not to disrespect the Paul Green thread as others have

One question:

What qualifications do you have to determine when someone's playing the MH card?

I got diagnosed a few years ago and I am interested to know how I am perceived by society. Do you think schizophrenics are just people who have lost touch with reality and always speak to themselves?

For what it's worth, I think it's a copout when people do bad shit and blame it on their mental illness you still know what is right or wrong. I am not looking for sympathy or anything like that. Honestly, I rarely talk to anyone about it because I don't expect them to understand.

How are you travelling UTT?
Hope you're doing ok... Very brave yiur initial post.. Stay strong 💪

I think that’s a very good point. Personally I’d rather multiple people “play” that card even if they potentially don’t need to. If bit encourages those who need to get support so be it. I’ve had my shittiest week in years this week but I’ve had plenty of people to bounce my sadness off. My brother though - I never saw it coming.

Sorry to learn of your situation. Losing someone close changes many aspects of your life and thinking. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks mate. Appreciate it. At the moment I’m struggling to find much joy in everyday life but I know for myself I’ll get out personally since it’s a one-off event that’s triggered it. It’s the people who can’t see a future where they’ve not sad that worry me and sadly often they don’t talk about it. I think I mentioned in the other thread someone I was close to passing recently and it’s like a small piece of my regular life has been ripped away. That and the Paul Green thing make me think of my brother more - that was over 20 years ago now but it’s probably only in the last few years I’ve been able to talk about it with others let alone on a WT forum.

its A very nasty thing and most who do suffer from it try to keep it to them self’s which is another sad part of it , I have no answer to it and trying to get the message out to have a chat to a mate or friend is tough , it’s just like blokes don’t go to the doctor as often as we should for a check up or simple blood test , we wait till some times it’s to late , many men and woman have passed away and it’s a real shame we just can’t fix this shitty thing up , Please talk to anyone if you are feeling not right in your self it may save your life

I want to share with you guys just 1 of 1000s of feeling I get when I suffer from this illness. My mental issues arose as a secondary condition , from a primary condition that I have.

The cause, a car accident with a truck, I drove the truck. I had no physical injures, I was higher up. Nothing I saw scared me or alarmed me. There was no initial mental scares. Within 2 weeks of the accident my first experience was, best described as starving to sleep. I took 1 year to seek help. I wish I never waited. I thought like everything , I can shrug it off. Not this time.
What do I put it down to , looking back, It was the whip lash in the accident.
If this happens to you or someone you know, please see a doctor straight away, and tell them my story. This happens in the form of PTSD, never forget this, please.

When I hit the black side of life, nothing matters, I can’t post.
I can say if I’m on here, I can see light again, any offence I cause I won’t blame on my condition, that is me.

Even if someone is "playing the mental health card", it takes a lot to play that card. On a football fan forum, you don't really need to be treating everyone nicely- 10 years ago, this place was just people roasting and arguing with each other so it has gotten a lot better. But, this particular forum is definitely more of a community. We don't come here for discussion about the team only, we come here for specific posters whose opinions you've heard for 10-15 years. It is a community too at the end of the day, just look at the Geo thread.

Something I've learnt only recently is if someone does say they have mental health issues, even if there's a 1% chance that they actually do, treat them nicer or just ignore them. You're not losing anything by doing that. I genuinely don't think there are too many people here that are bullies or bad people.

Good to have you aboard Shadow. I enjoy reading your posts and contributions to the Forum. I am glad you now have sought help. That is the first and hardest step. Well done.
Great post

Just one further thing.
when doctors say people suffer with long term Covid , they have all my symptoms, though I have more.
I really hope they are prepared as a government to put big money towards recovery’s because they ain’t seen nothing yet.
while I can’t be cured or die from my condition, one thing I can say is, if you get help, take the correct meds AND STAY POSITIVE, DONT THINK NEGATIVE you can get your life back most of the time. When you are ill you suffer flashbacks you truely have forgotten about.

I guess you can just tell if someone is genuine or not.
Moses, Matterson. You get the feeling they're using it more for leverage than actual suffering.
What do you think?
