Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

According to the report, Crichton’s value could top $800,000 a season on the open market due to his ability to play fullback, Martin 600,000 and To’o up to $500,000. ( almost as much as Nofa? good value for an origin winger)

The Australian’s Brent Read revealed the Bulldogs have an “amazing” amount of cap space available to sign marquee players in 2024 putting them in a position to table big-money offers for the trio.
Trying to work out why positions are valued so heavily...

Valentine Holmes is far better as a winger then a fullback IMHO>
Brian To'o is a try scoring winger who just storms through.

Crichton is a great player, so is To'o. There isn't 300K difference between them.

I really really hope you are right and Nov 1 I find my fears are unfounded but I thought the Nov 1 is when you can talk to players for 2024 not next year I want to make the 8 next year !!!
Oh…. I don’t think we are making the 8 next year. 😩

I do think we are in a good spot for 2024 with most off contract, those still signed are first grade quality for any team and a huge amount of coin to spend. I’m not 100% confident on our ability not to blow it.

We have to get it right or Benji will feed himself to the lions.

I will say again, Sheens never wanted to coach, but Benji needs the help and preparation, Sheens was comfy to sit back, but he’s been sling shot into the position. I’m surprised he said yes. He knows he’s royalty and like it or hate it , I agree. Just hope he knows how and when to let go. Will he hand over the reins after 1 or 3 years. Could be after one season if Benji puts a team together, worthy of Sheens approval, which was the original job Tim came back to do.

Every club has "cap space" when current players contracts end.

To be fair, if these guys are in the top 30 next year it bodes well for the future but we will be looking at another bottom 4 position in 2023
That's a good point and I'm prepared to accept a bottom 4 finish if we include these players in the Top 30 and prepare them for full-time NRL in 2024. We need to retain and develop our best and if this is what it takes I am okay with it.

I posted a few days ago I heard a whisper from two independent people that he is not interested in extending due the Madge thing and will leave the club at the end of his current contract or before if something can be sorted.

Not sure if it has leg , but he was very close to Madge, so the goss might be on the money
Funny, I heard he is very grateful to the WT for giving him another NRL shot and is keen to repay the faith and will stay all things being equal

They're not having Nanai or Suali levels of impact - At any level....
We still need plenty of Quality to surround them with...
I'll say it again....
KIDS WILL NOT DO IT ON THEIR OWN!!

We've been through 10 years of leaving Kids in charge, It hasn't and doesn't work
For us - Or them.

Soon Gus will appear on Nike adds , firmly regarded endorsed and respect by his peers. The man will appear in tights. Reveal on 110% BS with GUS.

That would suck if we lost Papali'i and Hastings over sacking Madge.

It's almost like it's not a good idea to sack coaches every 3 years. Would have liked to see how Maguire went with actual salary cap room to sign Api and Papi for next year but we'll never know now.
That would be like trying to measure a cup of milk with a ruler.

Dylan Brown looked great at centre.
Obviously he'd prefer a halves role though.

All 3 walk into our top 17 despite who it may upset.

Benji and DB looked close on the show together.

Mate.... No they don't.
Perham is well known to avoid contact
(Kind of a pre-requisite to make it in a collision sport)
No one at Parra really rates him....
Be very surprised to see him offered another contract there.

💯

Surely Sheens knows this too.

He said the only way 05 was a success as he had talented youth and surrounded them with some well picked experienced players.

This post in particular should be read, understood and appreciated by all.
