Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

i wish Liddle all success at St George.

The lack of signings since Sheens was announced the Coach is a worry.

Fingers crossed there are signings in the background ready to be confirmed shortly.

With Liddle gone and the two known additions for 2023 how many top 30 spots need to be filled?

I hope Shaun Blore is the saviour some WT Forum members think he is in 2023 and not another Matt Groat or Ben Murdoch-Masila.

Blore has been cruelled by injury. Solid defender and hopefully will kick on with the ball in hand next year as well. Going to be a lot of expectation on him so he will need to have a huge off-season.

Liddle will be just another one who wasn't good enough for the tigers but will probably be in starting 13 with dragons
I got all excited we signed someone Furner ! Oh bloody hell just another coach not a player

Yep. No suprise a big chunk of
The playing group got spoken to
And received letters in the mail.
Especially when you look at the
Performances under Kimmorly.
Sheens and Benji are starting
From scratch and I'm here 4 it
It sounds as though we can look forward to a substantial change in the roster as well as a refreshing change in the way we play and players are upskilled. It sounds like a good plan.

Brooks on $1.1 mill final year backended contract either we pay all of it and he plays for us or we pay about 60% and he plays for knights
Pretty sure Tim wants to keep him .So think they will offer newcontract
2023 - 2025 $2.3 mill
Same as his $1.1 MILL 2023
600k 2024
600 k 2025
So they can say new contract 3 years $2.3 mill or 767k per year
Its sounds better
But what do they think 9 years not enough to perform as great half but
Its the 10th year will be the breakthrough year !

If it's purely an economic decision pay the 60%. That amounts to around $650K and it's a clean cut.
Otherwise he's in the spotlight every game and the pressure that goes with that. The argument that the Hastings Brooks Doueihi combination is a winner is an admission that Brooks can't play half ( Also when Brooks got injured Madden filled the role just as capably ). We need a new half back ( and possibly a five-eighth ) putting a $600K ( less $200K long serving player ) band-aid on it won't assist the healing.

Madden didn't feel it just as capably we got smashed when Brooks didn't play and hence Madden is moving on.
If Madden was the answer Sheens would have kept him

If you had a choice between api and liddle who would you choose? I’m choosing api every day and we already have back ups who’s are on par with liddle it’s a wise move to let him go

To be fair to Madden, Hastings didn't play when we got smashed. In fact we got smashed a number of times whenever Hastings didn't play. Didn't matter who was in the 17. We also never won a game without Hastings in the team

Who cares. Good on him if he does.
He might be starting 13 but he isn't even close to being same ball park as Api.

We get a very clear upgrade in this position, we have a younger player who is right now comparative to Liddle in Simpkin and we have some other good young hooker options plus no doubt Brown staying who was better this year.

We have too many Hookers in the squad count so someone had to go, we made the right choice on this one. I like Lids and hope he nails it at the Dragons. Had a huge amount of potential just struggled alot over the last 2yrs to make the spot his own.

Liddle showed a lot of promise but never really went up a gear.

His strength, imo is running the ball & his weakness is passing and possibly his cardio... as from what I've seen, he's never been an 80 minute player.

I think he still has a lot to offer in the game & wish him the best at his new club.

I don't think he'll let anyone down at his new club but we've got hooker covered, it would appear and need to strengthen other positions.

No hard feelings, Jacob.
Good luck. 🌹🐯

Been thinking about it a bit (With the benefit of hindsight) There's been plenty of those young blokes that never kicked on under the last coaching structure....
