Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Further evidence of blaming all our woes (if you can count losing Madden as a woe) on Brooks. You can have the opinion of Madden being better than Brooks and that Brooks should have been dropped to reggies to accommodate him (i'd disagree but that is the coaches call not Brooks). But Brooks signed his contract before Madden was even at the club, so he has not forced him out and his exit is in no way "all on Luke Brooks".
Until Madden becomes the new Thurston, I'm happy with this decision. Good luck to him. Like others have said he'll get to work on his game under Reynolds.

Heard G Alexander say N Cleary spent the whole time he was suspended watching himself on tapes looking at how he could improve his game and working on it at training. His competiveness and will to win is evident every time he plays.
If Brooks is to improve his game it will come down to him putting in the time and effort to address his weaknesses and work on them.

That is not to say that if we continue to get smashed up the middle that any of that will make a difference to our results.

@Telltails - I think basically all of our players need to work on their games a lot. Brooks is far from the only one.
No doubt about that. But he is also in a pivotal position. If we are to ever achieve anything it will have to revolve around him being the best he can be. If Sheens and Benji are backing him - as it seems - then he needs to work on the weaknesses in his game that have been identified by all and sundry - and they need to provide a pack that gives him something to play behind. He has got one of the best DH's in the game coming - that's a start.

Sounds like Cleary took a leaf out of the Cooper Cronk playbook.

I thought this too…but…Reynolds is closer to retirement than Cleary. He’s got a much better shot at first grade at Brisbane than at Panthers.
He is close mates with Billy Waters and he will learn more in month hanging around Reynolds than a couple of years at the Tigers. Reynolds will also spent around 10 games on the sidelines. Smart move by Madden

You are right but I honestly think Brooks can't be the key player in the team. He isn't that guy and he shouldn't be under that pressure.

Laurie, Brooks, and Doueihi really need to up their games. Hastings is critical as well. I think he is the most critical with the least to work on whereas the other three are really important with a lot more to work on.

It will always be about Brooks whether he likes it or not Earl - that isn't going to change while ever he is at the club. Winning will be the only thing that will take pressure of him and his contribution will always be critiqued more than most.

Keep telling yourself mate!!

You are a gibberer believing media driven hype.

Please pin this bullshit to your profile for posterity!
Actually Brooksy, just thinking on your use of posterity, doesn’t really make sense. But then again, neither does how you play. 😏

Arriba!

Only way I would look at Xerri is a train and trial deal with a club option for a NRL contract. With condition he has to work his way into NRL via NSW Cup form.

He has been out of the game for years and not on supplements is a large shift for him.
It's great to take punts on players in this category but it must be the right deal/terms for us.
You don’t forget how to play, he’s 23. Train and trial I agree, and with informed , drug testing . I see he’s kept pretty fit and strong. Within about 10 minutes waking into the club, he would be a walk up start. Just a thought.
