Jackson Hastings #251

Jackson's toughness is underrated. In the games he played lock, he was doing so much work. He may not hit as hard as Radley, but he's always there. His work from marker was outstanding. He's also one of the few players in our team that can read and clean up a kick.

On the topic of cleaning up kicks, is this not being coached at any level at our club? Watched our Jersey Flegg team play for the first time in that semi, and none of them knew how to clean kicks up. Most of our FG side are clueless too.

Just questioning whether we need Hastings in that Lock/Distributor role with Api in the side. You would think there will be more go forward with Api's better service and his running from dummy half so a more orthodox half back role might be what is required. What we need is someone who can handle the secondary dummy half role similar to Dean Halatau, the dummy halves this year were too slow and very unimaginative.

Strike from across the park.

It's innovative and will definitely work for us.

I’m hoping Rua can play that Halatau role.

I guess it’s kinda like giving an emoji when you agree with part of the post but not all of it.
Of yours I don’t think you need to be that critical of him. He has spent two games in the role but certainly shown to me a greater hunger in all areas than of which he did at half or five eight.

The part I do agree with though is that nonsense that we have revolutionised the game with him there and the few you mentioned have already played that way for the past 3 seasons.

Jacko just needs to keep improving his technique and toughness in contact and he will work out really well for us in the role.

My opinion is that those other players mentioned are skillful middle forwards whereas Hastings is a halfback moved to play a ball playing lock role. I get that it's the same role. I just think those guys would struggle playing in the halves whereas Hastings can do it no problems. I think he is more skillful than the other ball playing locks in the comp.

They basically took different paths to get to the same location but your right that hastings is a better ball player and can be involved more, the downside is he also has less impact than yeo, radley etc

Respectfully disagree. He has a
A boot in his arsenal too.. next
Year we're kicking from 6,7,9 & 13.
He doesn't need impact he's not
That guy, he's the guy to steer us.
If Brooks wants it to zing left he's
Got it, conversely if Doueihi wants
The pill to go right he's got it too.
Victor and Cam are forwards that
Pass, Jacko can do that and more

Cameron Smith retired at the end of 2020. Meaning Harry went back to Melbourne, because Cameron Smith wasn’t there 🥴
Well yes, with hindsight. But at the time He went back to Melbourne and at that stage cam was playing announcing his retirement in march. All of which is found with Google.

However in trying to be clever, you are missing the whole point which was the comment that at functions tigers players “say they are staying” that was the first quoted comment and my subsequent statement saying Grant said that at a function as well. Someone disagreed he said that and I gave a link to the media report.

Sometimes it would be more fun talking to a brick wall.

Didn't mean it was a bad thing just pointing out the differences.
A good game for Jackson is one where he constantly takes pressure off the halves though passing and kicking, is solid in defence and makes good meters , a good game for victor is one where he runs and takles hard and occasionally takes pressure off the halves

Hastings has 1 thing that most if not all our other players lack and that is "Footy Smarts"
He is not the quickest, not a big kicker, doesn't do heaps of hit ups but he knows how to read a game and manage it.. Just a pure footballer and on field coach who knows how to direct players around and get the best out of them...
I say it all a time but He is the most important signing we need to make happen before Gus and others poach him.. Don't stuff this up Sheen..

I wish he wasn't. I'd prefer him to save himself for us next season. He wants to play for Great Britain. He is a goer.
He will be playing for England if he goes to the world cup. They play for the individual countries at the world cup.

Whatever. I'd prefer him to to give his body a rest. He was injured for a bunch of last season and he was still one of our best players.

I would argue that Yeo playing his distribution role allows the extra space for Api to work within.

Basically, the two go hand in hand and allow both to prosper.

Hastings has to be number 1 priority signing. We cannot lose him. He is more important then brooks and doueihi by far. It’s not even close
