Isaiah Papali’i #265

Ask directly today in press are you going to the Tigers next season would not answer and said his focus is on this season 🙄
Well he did say that same thing a few weeks ago but since then his form has been a bit indifferent.
Whether that’s to do with the dilemma of going/ not going to WT or because other teams have worked him out, I’m not sure.
I’m sure we all wished he would just answer the question so we can move on, one way or another.

It's pretty much he doesn't want to come but we will sue

He will be here.
I tell you Gaz, i watched the interview, i was appalled by him today, he clearly has

I tell you Gaz, i was appalled by that interview today, he clearly does not want to come here, so my thoughts are bugger him!!! im tired of him and his petulant attitude towards coming here. I want players who actually want to play for the tigers and not come here under protest!!! His performances over the last month have been pretty poor, if he is that poor for Parra, imagine him coming here and putting that type of performance week in week out.

Papalii still refusing to answer question on coming to tigers today on TV
All he says is his only concern is Parra semi
Wheras Api on Matty Johns show made it very clear he's coming
Good on you Api not playing ducks and drakes like the other guy
I don’t blame him for not answering, dumbasses only have the same question for the bloke every time they speak to him

Can’t blame him to be honest. Last time he was backed into a corner and his manager made a comment on his behalf he played like crap for weeks.
Just let him be. Season 2023 starts in November for a reason.

Mixed feelings about this.
One thought is just tell us now Papa and the other feeling is if the shoe was on the other foot I would want him to stay true and focussed to the club he's currently contracted to and who are trying to win a finals match .
He still owes the Parra fans his loyalty.
Which hopefully means when he comes to WT he'll show the same loyalty to us.

Papalili has to be at the Tigers next year, not just for the good of the tigers but also the good of the NRL.

Nrl Don't care about us.
We're a bottom feeder club, only kept around for sentimentality.
We need to draw a line in the sand and start being tough.
Read the riot act to Isaiah. Like I said before, If he wants to renege on his contract he can drive a forklift for 3 yrs.
We're not the bad guys

It's not just about us, if the NRL were to allow paps to back out of this deal it creates a situation where players can sign a contract as a negotiation tactic. Sign a contract with a new club and use that as leverage to get a better deal at your current club.

It also allows players to sign a contract as insurance against injury or poor form. If your form improves or your current club finds more money renege and sign with them after guaranteeing your salary with your backup contract.

And that is what would happen if they let Papalii backflip, bottom clubs like us would get players on contracts 12 months out, and the player would just have that contract as a fallback if everything else fails.

Didnt the RLPA also come out and say he needs to honour the contract?

So your saying the NRL won't allow him to back out.
Maybe the NRL will use this as a deterrent to players who want to go down a similar path.

Exactly.
