Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Well to be fair brooks has the same speed as Dearden , just lacks alot of confidence and an organiser general like Townsend and maybe lost some youthful arrogance. AH is not a great organiser from what we saw and JH looks good but whow knows consistently...
JH is a good organiser although he's so dominate after a couple of games teams would just track JH and shut the play down.

There was a period where we weren't scoring then put some points on when we did AD 6 Brooks/Madden 7 and JH 13.

Yep & that’s the formula. JH hybrid lock / half’ organiser, Brooks 7 AD 6 both playing running 5/8 role each side of the ruck .

We suffered 1 up 5th tackle kick, and 3 in the tackle footy for 3 1/2 years under Madge. Find it in your hearts to let us give it go, damn. I'm confident, I'm confident.

I'm not confident but we have to wait and see how it goes. It might work.

It's refreshing the discussion has changed to putting the boot into Brooks based off the Knights allegedly booting their two halves. Johns said it himself that the Knights are gone if they don't get a half for next year meaning the coach may also be gone. In any case, Sheens has made at least two statements advising Brooks will remain and I believe he mentioned the possibility of him being a one club player. But that won't stop these baseless rumours.

I don’t understand the No signings until November 1 , I thought November 1 is for a signing in 2024 , anyone coming like API and Papi in 23 ar fair game now , does this mean no other coming for 23
My understanding you can sign someone for 2023 now but most good players are already signed till end 2023 season .A small number aren't like guys in their 30 's who can't get an extension or like Tapau who's apparently asking too much . From Nov 1 we can sign for 2024 and there's a huge list of stars only signed to end 2023 . Problem remains every player is very wary about coming to concord

With some actual forwards could be dangerous. Laurie needs some work but Sheens has mentioned he is a development coach so he'll need to make him a lot better.

IMO Brooks will be here next year if he wants it . I think he is being offered a 3 year deal 2023 -2025 for $2.3:mill .However seeing his old contract has $1.1 mill backended for 2023 only . I think Sheens wants him to forfeit that in lieu of the new contract .I effect he is getting an additional $1.2 mill for 2 extra years
Brooks may not accept this and if not Sheens will either have to improve the 3 year deal or offload him and we will still pay about half his contract for next year only . Sheens likes Brooks and wants him to accept the 3 year deal

No it's not - My guess is I might be a bit older than you and have seen this story many, many times before.
Everything he does is back rower play - And he can't defend....
Neither of those things are silly.
Keep up buddy.

I Understand that my friend,
You're probably right Batboy.
Fair play moite, no worries ...

I live in the area, it's my area.
I've got a big stake in it too.
Let's see what happens next
year bro let's see what happens

You both have fair points, but he won’t cement any position until he can tackle.

this isn't a competition it's an
open discussion..I happen to think he can tackle very well when given an assignment. And the men outside and inside him are fit and accountable as he is. That's all.

He hits hard but he also misses a lot of tackles. It's a consistency issue.

Yeah comparing him with those
Guys is a bit silly, a bit premature..

Saying he should play backrow
With the the same breath U said
He can't defend is equally silly.

I don't think it is so much that Adam cannot defend, he can, rather that he cannot read the plays coming at him on an edge, particularly when a half is involved. Centre, whilst also a tough position to defend from, doesn't rely quite so much on split second decisions and quick initial lateral movement.

As such, for mine he is more suited to play at centre or the distributor lock role, where in the middle, he will not be isolated by the opposition so often.

If that was to be his future spot, I would look at swapping him and Hastings around occasionally, particularly in defence, to give Jackson a bit of a rest from the high workload there.

Either way, with November 1st fast approaching and all of or currently contracted potential halves only signed until next year, our WT will likely have to make such decisions very soon if not already made.
