Thoughts on Staines tonight ?

Seems OK, a lot to work in.
Lightweight. Loved that shoulder charge he made though.

It's a decent swap for us if it happens .wouldn't pay to much tho

Fact- Wests Tigers are a club that's got worse every year and now hit bottom
We are also considered a political hotbed with a troubled environment
and as such top class players are reluctant to come .
My problem is if I felt that these core issues were at least being admitted to and addressed I could sit back and wait for the fruits of "the new era " to take effect
Instead Everthing stays the same

Last night Edwards returning the ball, did everything, but send a high priority email and text to check his in box, for Staines to understand that he was trying to give him a 2 on 1 with his winger who was hugging the sideline. Staines ignored the opportunity and kept coming in.

Seems to have a crack at least, unlike Peach.

I'd swap him for Peach for sure but I think Laurie will benefit from a good injury free offseason and steadily improve. I don't think Staines is an upgrade though but still good for depth as he does have a go.

I think he will go ok for us. Definite upgrade over Peach. As long as they upgrade all the cast offs we will slowly get stronger.

Yeh, a try went begging as the perfect pass sailed a metre in front. Some parts of his game didn’t impress .

I cannot remember which commentator made this comment but it should resonate - Staines' speed allowed him to cover in defence. He really gave it a good go last night and keeps on incrementally improving. That is the type of player we need at WTs.

I'm convinced he is a very good player in a very good team. I'm also convinced it is hard to look a very good player in a poor team. Lets be honest he is not going to get the platform from our forwards to do his stuff.

We'll have to see if he performs for the next 3 seasons. It's a long time.

He is good. I don't think he was great last night. He made some mistakes - a poor pass and a dropped ball. It gets hidden when your team is that good.

He is definitely one of the top couple of players in the comp in his position right now though and he is a massive upgrade on what we've had for a long time.

I like his attitude. He runs it back hard. I hope we do get him. I'm not convinced he is a walk up starter in our team though.
