Pathways

In 2004 the roosters had a jersey Flegg team which went undefeated throughout 24 rounds to win the comp, the side produced ONE NRL player. Gun Junior sides are good to have but often don’t equate to gun NRL players.

I think our Flegg team has already produced 4 NRL debuts this year (Pole, Tupou, Kautoga, Matamua) and I think they'll play regular first grade. Tumeth has been knocking on the door and O'Kane a lot of promise. Says a lot about the guys above them but also quite a bit about this group. As for that Matts team, I think Miller, Galvin, Da Silva and Keppie will play firsts. We have some good young players coming through.

What position is Keppie? Who does his game resemble?

Isn't Tupou from the Brumbies?

Juniors honoured at Centre of Excellence

WT would like to thank and congratulate all players and staff who were involved in our junior representative teams in 2022.

2022 has been a hugely successful season for the club's pathways teams with the majority of Wests Tigers junior rep sides making the finals of their respective competitions.

Wests Magpies claimed a maiden premiership in the Harold Matthews Cup, our Balmain SG Ball side made the finals, as did our teams representing Macarthur Wests Tigers in the Andrew Johns Cup (U/16s) and Laurie Daley Cup (U/18s) competitions.

It was a hugely successful season for our women's teams as well, with Wests Tigers making the finals in the Tarsha Gale Cup (U/19s) and of course our club's maiden title in the Harvey Norman Women's Premiership.

Wests Tigers Junior Representative Awards night was recently held at the new Centre of Excellence, where players from all teams were given a guided tour.

Head of Pathways, Matthew Betsey says the event showcased a strong year for the club's development teams.

"It was tremendous to bring our younger players through and show them this amazing facility," said Betsey.

"Many of them were blown away by it, which is understandable.

Don't know what a pathways deal is. Flegg? Development? Either way it's excellent news.
Fantastic news! Hopefully he gets a run with the nrl squad in pre-season training. Can imagine he will be one we need to keep providing quality opportunities/progression for.....otherwise other clubs will come knocking down the track.
