Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Just reading( West Tigers News) that RTS has rejected rumours he is moving back to NRL and says he’s contracted for 2023( assume NZ rugby).
Is this another potential signing we can now cross off the list , and move forward ?

So potentially a 2024 Signing . Rts probably covering all bases for RU world cup chances.

I dont understand why players get angry when they are linked to us. I'm thinking back to when we approached Moylan. God knows we can handle rejection. There's no need to be narky about it.
I assume RTS was gracious in his refusal of the offer.

Class act.

Said the rumours to the roosters... and NRL are false.

Didn't mention us as that was simple just forum discussion, I believe.

Club selected the wrong coaches since sheens imo.
And who would you have selected?

They actually selected Craig Bellamy at the start, but he declined. You can only choose from the candidates available to you.

Wayne Bennett agreed to join Tigers but would not leave prior to seeing out his Broncos contract, and we needed a new coach that following season.

Assuming Taylor and Potter are the "bad" coaches since Sheens, I am not certain who the alternative candidates were at the time. Potter did alright with the Bulldogs 2022. Our next selection Cleary is about to win his second premiership in a row. Madge has won a premiership before.

Slim pickings otherwise I think.

That's not an apologist position either, it's just a consideration of each decision as it was made at each point in time.

How poorly has it been run, exactly? Backstabbed by a key coach, best player poached by a silvertail club. Memberships at record levels despite the losses, strong finances.

I'm neither here nor there with the hierarchy, But I feel this also.
The club was broken and limping along on the back of a couple great players for far too long...
Despite a few hiccups, I feel that some things have been fixed - Long overdue, But are certainly on the up.
It's only a matter of time before that filters down to on field results.

We all want to win now, But we needed repair...
It's like the old saying
- Catch a man a fish and he'll eat for the day, Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime....

If there was nothing positive happening, I'd be less than impressed...
I feel it wouldn't matter what the team looked like, If we didn't fix the running gear - The wheels would just fall off again like they always do...
There seems to be more stability at ground level than I can remember before.
He'd be a great mentor for Luke Brooks.
Teach him a thing or two.

Was playing Massey a couple years back....
😂😂😂

Staines / Peachey swap will be good abd if we can land Nathan Brown for second row we are looking good.
1. Staines
2. Nofo
3. Naden
4. Douhie
5. Ken M
6. Laurie
7. Brooks
13.Hastings
12. Papali
11. Nathan Brown
10. Stef
9. Api
8. Joffa

I don't think Brown has played on an edge since he was at Souths, and even then it was limited. He is a lock only.

Not dismissing your comment but Taylor was horrific for the club

“We were a lot better when Sheens was here”…

that’s an opinion…we were 10th in Sheens last year and finished 9th three times since

“ Sheens knows his footy”…

Thats an opinion..

If he is so good, then why was no one else in the NRL interested in him when he was shown the door here 10 years ago …

”compared to people we tried to bring in”

Cleary?
Just ignore the fact he is the only coach that has guided us toward the finals---

Dopes shouldn't of sacked sheens then.

I agree and, while I think a great coach is vital, I think a lot beyond the coach within a club makes a coach successful. Our club has been poorly administrated for a while. I think Sheens won in 2005 despite club management.
