Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I don't really rate Staines either but for 2023 and beyond if Douhie is not the answer Tim and benji want at 6 then they may ask him to play centre. He may spit the dummy at that and if that is the case then he may move on.
I think Brooks survives mainly due to the long service discount and if Sheens can restructure the contract from 2024
If we want to keep Laurie at fullback then we can go for
7. Hastings
6. Brooks
I just think Sheens sees Hastings as that 13
which woukd likely leave
7. Brooks
6. Laurie
hence the need for Staines at 1
Brooks and Laurie as a halves combination would be the worst in NRL history

If we can get Klemmer to bring leadership and steel to our pack and Leinu with his steel and impact, we are going to improve next year. Also our backs including Brooks will have more time and space to operate.
God help us if Brooks has more time and space to stuff things up as he usually does over the years. How many years have we told Brooks to run and he goes missing, like him as a good clubman and yes his defense has improved over the years BUT its time to move him on if its a sound decision in our favour

Saw that written here somewhere - Don't know that Sheens said it publicly...
I'd be keeping Musgrove over Tuki.
Having watched him a bit in Reserves, I don't see anything much in him...
To the point he's well behind Dias and Aitasi.

Tuki wouldn't have been near firsts at any other club...
Musgrove would've (And has) And will....
I can't say that for Tuki unfortunately...

Perhaps you're right it could have been the pom who said it.

That’s 27. Matamua and Saukuru are on development next year more will be added eventually but we currently have 3 spots left.

I think even Keith Barnes told him to sign with Superleague. Balmain were going to offer him 50k or something, SL offered him $1m over three years. Can’t blame him for taking the offer. As I recall when he told the Balmain management what the offer was they said he should accept it.

Edit: Turns out it was John Chalk who told him to take the $uper League money. Our offer may have been as low as $40k for one season.
Does anyone remember Conlon kicking for the sideline on penalties

We can easily accommodate Klemmer and Leniu, be it cap or spots available. It's not like our forwards are worth keeping happy. We have forwards who can do a job and that is it. Musgrove, Seyfarth, Simpkins, goodbye. Our depth is hopeless. A backrower is needed urgently too.

I would only be content with one of Nofoaluma or Maumalo. Need difference in our backline, some speed on the other wing wouldn't hurt. Doueihi is not a centre.
agree wholeheartedly on the one of Nofoaluma and Maumalo take. was very hopeful Nofo would stay at Melbourne permanently but doesn't seem as if they want him. regardless I'd be shopping him around.

Scolari and Hill should be made priority #1 as far as wingers go. providing they rip in over preseason I'd be giving them both Top 30 contracts and having them on the wings in place of Nofo and Maumalo by 2024. throw Tupou and Feledy in the centres and that's a very good backline.

Yes I do. That originated from Jack Gibson via Mick Cronin at Parra. I also remember Rooster FB Alan McKeon doing it a few times.
I guess you’d call it a fad that would be howled down today.
Yep .would it still be allowed in today's game .they can kick it a long way of the tees these days ?

Have you seen any half "run" behind a weak pack? It's like running into a brick wall.

What's going on with Tommy Talau he plays center for us in 2021. He was sort of ok but he does his ACL and spends entire 2022 rehabbing and now I see he's not even signed for next year ? What's the story ?

I’m still holding a candle for Nado.

In my experience, unless a side has some get go up the middle, the backline will struggle to get into its groove.

You can win games with lighter forwards, but they have to make up for it by being courageous and busier than their opponents as a start.

I’m still desperate for a ball playing forward. Everytime we take the ball up we need options and I’m tired of seeing wingers die with the ball relieving pressure. Just sitting ducks usually when I think we could make more of it.

We’ve been too predictable. There were some spurts during Noddys formative games, some closer matches, but our bark was worse than our bite.
I definitely agree it’s hard to judge our backs when our forwards are so far off the pace. Makes the re-signings of Naden and To’a seem strange.

How do you know we have 28 spots filled for next year .Where can u see it the west's website shows 30 odd including those that have left
According to the NRL website WT have 27 contracted. Media has reported they have offered Talau and Brown contracts.
