Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Cleary did it when he was 18 back in 2016 so yeah he could’ve done it. If Cleary could so could’ve Brooks. Taylor was shit no argument there but if an 18 year old Cleary could do it so could’ve Brooks at 22.
tedesco and Moses didn't kick on and have success until they left tigers shows you how poor the team has been and in that tine Brooks still won Dally m halfback of the year

sheens doesn't think so, I agree Hastings is important as a ball playing 13 not as a 7
Brooks, the enigma.

Is he a 7? 6? 9?

Has a lot of people fooled imo.

If he's so good at 7 how come he got moved and played his best games in years at 6 ?

It'll be remembered (and laughed) for years how the club (imo, wrongly) invested so much time into a person so undeservedly.

adge was coaching then and not Sheens, let's see where Sheens plays Brooks, om thinking 7 and in Sheens mind he is a 7

I guess it's hard to confirm EL form.

Can you confirm JB was killing it in England before Raiders?
He was one of the top players in the SL and it’s not just my opinion. He was top of his game. Keep in mind he’s 29 now and all players will inevitably start to decline…we would be getting a player on big dollars on the way down rather than at their peak.

Between 2014 and 2018, Bateman became a double Super League Grand Final (2016 and 2018) winner and was part of the historic 2017 World Club Challenge winning team that beat Cronulla Sharks.

The second row was named in the 2018 Super League Dream Team and was shortlisted for the 2018 Steve Prescott Man of Steel.

At Wigan’s End of Season Dinner, Bateman was awarded the Players’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year.

The way I’m looking at the Klemmer/Bateman deals is that the club is feeling pressure to get some recruitment wins with recognisable names. I’m ok with that strategy, but we need to be careful we don’t have a repeat of what Cleary did to us.

Although I think Klemmer would be paid overs at $800k, and $650k thereafter, I can deal with that signing as the leader of the pack and having no significant ongoing injuries.

Bateman on the other hand….no one even knows what we would be willing to pay right? Everyone has a fair value…at $400k, sure… I’d take him as a guy with experience and for his attitude within the team. I think his pay would reflect the performance we would get out of him.

At $700k, I’d pass because he won’t perform to that level based on what I’ve seen in SL since he left Canberra and had his shoulder surgery.

I guess we need to know what the dollars and cents are first, but based on what the guy wanted when he left, I’m sure he’ll want roughly what IP is earning.

Who would be your tips to pick up development contracts in the pre-season?
I reckon they are already decided, just will be announced when pre season begins.

It would make sense to have Kautoga locked away with something more than train and trial and The Poms comment previously suggested this to be the case.

I guess it depends how much we needed to persuade some of our top line young guys (even SG Ball eligible) to stick around. Wouldn't surprise me to see any or all of Fa'agutu, Miller or Feledy on a development contract.

Out of last years Flegg, I reckon Livai Saukuru is a good chance along with Tannous.

I’m not a Brooks lover or a Brooks basher because I think Luke is a nice kid that has endured a less than ideal development into first grade and as a result didn’t have the optimal environment to fulfill his potential…But, that’s just it…he’s always been talked about in terms of potential.

We are nearly 10 years on from his debut and people are still talking about his potential.

I think he’d do well to go to the SL and enjoy that last 5 years of his career on good money with a good team…

Brooks a running 5/8. Doesnt have the skill to organise a game & never has. Not a criticism,as all players have strengths & weaknesses. To me the way forward is very clear. Hastings playing thee hybred 13 role, organising the team as he did in a few games this year. You then have Brooks & Doughue ,running 5/8 's on both sides of the ruck. The recipe for success.

Not sure what I'd offer him if I was in charge but he's a hardnut we need. Doesn't take a backward step like most of our pussies

Mate, you'd be better off debating with a brick wall. It would probably be more intelligent than most of Brooks family and friends on here, not to mention having the courage to actually take a firm stance on something instead of flipping back and forth.
I think I've finally worked out who you are....... a Knights supporter agitating for the release of Brooks so Andrew Johns & your club can have your way. Are you really Andrew Johns Mother?

Ironically, he's played a big part in the coaching turnover because they all tried to fix him. It's not his fault he's not good enough but it's still true.

Potter and especially Maguire.

Trying to temper my expectations in case we miss out but I really think Klemmer will make a massive difference to us.

I think he's a better version of RCG who was a big reason Parra got to the GF. If Stefano can stay injury free and return to his 2021 late season form they will be a really strong front row pairing.

Is it Brooks fault Maguire got sacked from Souths also?

It's funny, Most here considered the Brooks "Fanboys" Or "Family"
are mostly labelled as such for debating stupid comments like this!!

Don’t get me wrong I respect him for giving us a premiership and finals bound. But he’s not that brilliant. The results he had after he left us is proof. We may not come last under him, but he won’t coach us to another finals series
You have like the rest of us, no bloody idea, what Sheensy will do in 2023.
He could very well form a very good team.
Who knows, I certainly don't, nor does anybody else, so lets see how we go next year Aye. If he fails, then we criticise, but not before they have played a match.
