Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I won't go into what I think of Brooks as a player or why he's performed poorly in his years at the club, but I really don't get the loyalty aspect.

We offered him a huge 5 year deal to be among the highest paid players in the game. That doesn't make him loyal at all - it's not like there were other teams offering him more than us. In fact, it's the opposite - I'm sure we offered significantly more over a longer period than anyone else...

Just watched Australia v Fiji .
Kilkau drops it cold but goes for the review . Funny when the refs aren’t paid off the rules apply to equally to Penrith players . Certainly wouldn’t be used to that. Funnily enough Api looked average as well without the refs help. Take note Suallu.

I believe Brooks is the best half at the club atm, and has been a victim to a sub-standard squad for the best part of his career.
I appreciate your stern stance....
Although none of what you've written means much if Brooks himself doesn't want to be here.
He's given the best part of his career to the club, Surrounded by below par NRL players - And he may well have just had enough....
Who knows what being the WT's 7 is doing to him....
It's a shame we didn't get a few quality players a year or 2 earlier....

Peter Parr at the Knights has done more in NRL squad Management and negotiations in the last 10 years than Sheens, Marshall and Farah combined x 100.
You seem fairly reasonable man, But your blind faith in the 3 Wise men is worrying
- Almost disturbing...
All 3 have failed upon failed at this club....
And have done absolutely nothing to get us "Back on Track"
what has luke brooks done at this club? get us a wooden spoon…

Good post.
Interesting what you say, coz as still a relatively new member ( June22) I was starting to believe, from most feedback on here, that if Pom wrote it, then it was correct.
I have no idea about his track record so will be a little more circumspect in future.
Cheers.

Sorry to be cynical, everyone loves a Pom post and I'd say most members believe the poster and at least his posts are much better than the repetitive Brooks bashing and dull infighting but unfortunately you just can't trust everything written on internet forums these days!

Please select from one of the following most common excuses put forward on this forum for Luke Brooks lack of success at the club (as per his mindless fans):

- It's Benji and Robbie's fault for not letting him run the team
- Madge/Taylor/Potter/Clearys fault
- It's the forwards fault
- "Football anxiety" (okay, it's not a common excuse but it was used and it's my personal favourite)

Yeah no excuses for his short kicking game that's for sure.

The mail seems to be that Brooks and Klemmer will swap clubs on agreed salary of $800K per year. Tigers will then front a further $300K for Brooks to play at the Knights.

So if we are paying Brooks $300K to play somewhere else, how does that sit with everyone?

I don’t think we should do that as much as I think Brooks is done with us and vice versa. They either take him full freight or he stays, we let Madden go we want to play Hastings at 13. We’re not sure if Doueihi is a 5/8 or whether Laurie can slot in. The Klemmer deal isn’t dependent on Brooks apparently so if the knights want him as much as they profess to pay him his dues.

Ill take exception with that comment. Im sure as league lover you must have played in RL at some level in a team. If you have , you must understand the term loyalty. Years ago ,We played in the old State wide commonwealth bank cup, & we had a talented 5/8 who had received a scholarship to Sydney based private school team for the next year. Because he was so talented they wanted him to join them immediately . He refused because he had been in the trenches with us from day dot, Although we didnt past the quarter finals, we beat some of the more elite Sydney private schools who we were expected to lose against. That is loyalty. That is exactly the quality Brooks ., among others like Farah, are missing from this great club. .That quality is what gives the you strength to win against the odds. Seriously, if you dont understand loyalty, you dont underestand the foundation of what great clubs are built from . .
Loyalty is all well and good but he’s not performing at the level he’s being paid.
How long can you continue paying our biggest dollars for a dud?

If they want Brooks-and if Sheens is happy to release him-they pay the lot. We should not subsidise a red cent. No idea what's being proposed for a Klemmer transfer-if we're chasing him at all!

Don’t think twal gives u anything off the bench, not like he’s a game breaker. I have klemmer and twal starting. Stefano and joffa/Leniu/Pole off the bench. Better impact, first twenty there just bashing each other! Save that for the meatheads!!
So with your tactics the match could be over by the time our game breaking forwards even get in the pitch? Right....

Realistically you can only have one of Klemmer, Twal and possibly even Joffa on the field at the same time. You Have to mix the workhorses with the impact players, not play both work horses and then all impact men. It simply doesn't work that way

So what’s the source of this brilliant piece of news.
Youd have to be a moron to believe Sheens and co. would agree to that piece if crap.

Broadly agree though Klemmer I think has enough impact to get away with partnering with Joffa for instance. Stef + Twal on the bench. Not the best but much better than what we've had.

Ideally though it would be more along the lines of Leniu + Klemmer starting with Stef + Joffa on the bench with Twal + Pole either third prop on bench or 18/19th man etc
