Well at least Sheens is displaying an ability to rapidly clear out the players he doesn't want. Hopefully less "not my roster" talk if he is already able to clear 5+ players from existing contracts.

Happy for that side of the business to occur quickly, rather than the Packer / Mbye nonsense we have had to put up with.

There's something with releasing deadwood for sure....
But continuously giving untested kids top 30 spots is just Stupid!!

Also gives him an excuse every single day for not competing.....

Who cares ? I'm serious as well. I care if they get beat defensively and they can't make a bust but I think they will threaten the line regularly.

I'm worried about them defensively but give them a chance and let them work on their game. We should be targeting juniors to come into the team and fill these roles longer term anyway.

Plus Hastings and Doueihi are not marquee halves and we can spend more on other areas.

Laurie is in the same position to me but Staines coming may change that. If Ken M leaves that changes things again.

We just got to wait and see how it all plays out but it's good to see some movement in our spine. It's been an issue that needs to be sorted for a while.

Interesting that Brooks has done it though rather than the club making a change.

I personally never rated Madden... it is possible the new regime don't rate him either. Pretty common for fringe players to not be in favour of the new boss.

It's more for depth, I don't think he's a starting 7, but would have been good to have him there if Brooks is gone.

I didn't see that with him - Didn't really see anything with him...

interesting that Ken is on the chopping block, but also excites me given the amount of gun young wingers we have. could mean that Tupou, Hill or Scolari are all in consideration for Round 1.

This all changes now though. He isn't trying to fit both Doueihi and Brooks into the team.

It gives us a bigger pack as well.

If you play Hastings at 13 then you have to come up with another spine player. Maybe Staines to 1 and Laurie and Doueihi as the running 6's.

Personally I'd just play Hastings at 7 and Douiehi at 6 and see how they go. There isn't any need to rush re-signing them.

Agreed but I don't know what will happen. Do you ? It appeared to me Brooks was staying but the news yesterday seemed like there was a good chance Brooks was gonski and the POM today basically confirmed it.

Maybe a better way to phrase this is asking is the following spine good enough for us:-

1. Laurie
6. Doueihi
7. Hastings
9. Api

Do we have any backup as well ?

So if this is happening re Brooks no doubt that Newcastle/ Brooks would be agitating to make it happen sooner. So does the Klemmer deal hinge on us releasing Brooks or does it give us some leverage elsewhere.

Don't believe Sheens would have let Madden go if he believed Brooks was gone - especially if he doesn't believe Hastings is a 7. I have no confidence yet that Sheens is turning anything around more so than any other who has tried before him. More players leaving than committing and next to no confirmation in signings yet and not sure where they are going to come from. Some news soon in relation to signatures would be welcomed.

There is a growing contingent of non-superstar 20 year olds with Top 30 spots..

That's not even to mention Reilly.
