Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

AD at 7 ... don't think so
think Brooks is keen for the cash at Newcastle doesn't mean he is not like any other player even papali who signed from Parramatta, players can sign a year out.
If and that is a big if he did ask for a release that was when madge was coaching
Don't think Sheens will let him go in 2023 unless Frizell is on offer at newcastle
Just because he’s 7 dosent mean he will be a run the team halfback
That’s Hastings through the middle, he will be another ball running 6
Like having 2 5/8s and Hastings halfback

He's already outlined the blue print with his tweaks he put in place with Kimmorley.

Noddy wanted to drop Brooks, remember...

Played AD and LB with Jackson playing the half-back role in 13.

It's already sitting there, waiting to be re created without Brooks for 2023.

You'll come to realise this soon enough.

My Penrith mate rates Staines much higher then Laurie. Thinks his ball playing is very good and he is a fullback, not winger. I'm not convinced but hope he is right.

He was the best fullback in NSW cup, so I guess short of signing an established NRL fullback, it's the next best option. He has spent the last few years watching how hard Edwards has worked to improve his game, so I think there is a fair chance Staines will work his butt off to make the 1 his own. I also believe Sheens will have Hastings controlling the middle from 13 with Laurie wearing the 7. Hastings and Laurie doing the short kicking with Doueihi doing the long kicking. Just what I think Sheens will do.

no guarantees Hastings will be here in 2024 either without Hastings at 13 you can't have AD and DL as running five eighths

Re Staines good news I guess ? Whatever you do don't lose Laurie one player who tried his guts out every week . He's either 1 or 6 .Just curious could Staines play center we are light on there ?

I've come to the conclusion that this forum is split down the middle.
Group A. Quite highbrow for a league forum, they post well thought out and constructive thoughts.
Group B. Toothless, illiterate halfwits, the type you'd assume were Souths fans.

I'm talking 2023.

If Hastings goes in 2024 as @pawsandclaws1 mentioned, we've got the two young ball playing locks in Chris & Justin ready to go.

Matamua has a first grade contract for 2024, yeah?

Sheens and coaching staff don't share your opinion
So then why are they letting him go, (if in fact they are).
Money ?
Surely if Sheens thinks he’s that worthwhile then money shouldn’t be the issue. But hasn’t he offered him a reduced contract, surely not the sign of someone who really wants to coach someone.
Imagine if anew boss came into your workplace and said , I really want you around but you’ll need to take a major pay cut ? What would you do coz I know what my response would be.
Well boss, one of our competitors has offered me good coin to join them ? Is that your best offer ?
Alternatives, maybe he has something cooking and is just sitting back waiting.
Somewhere I saw someone say he was looking at halves overseas, why do that if you want to coach Brooks. And why let Madden walk when maybe all he needed was the same sort of confidence from the coach.
So maybe he’s not looking at halves but other
positions and maybe Buzz’s articles and everyone else’s input are speculation rather than fact.
I guess we’ll all know in due course.
